The kuo-toa do have their own deity. And, if you allow worship of demon lords and the like, they have a second major one in Dagon, nowadays.

I think the argument of "it's not realistic/fair to fictional characters for all races not to have their own gods, so no race should have them" isn't one that's compelling to me. To me, it comes down to "is it fun for a race to have their own god?" If it's not (Correllalalalashamalamadingdong wasn't fun, for instance), out they go.

If it is cool -- crazy naked lady with a lobster head and claws, for instance -- they get one.

My only concessions to theological realism is that NPCs ought to have gods they'd want to worship, not just adventurers. Beyond that, it's all gravy.

Don't they worship Blibdoolpoolp?

Edit: somehow missed your lobster comment. Of course its Blibby to the poolp.

Lolth is an overused and worn out deity to many due to her overexposure, and lack of innovation in the plots centered around her in the materials that support such. Lolth defines a foe that has the potential to create interesting storylines, ideas, and campaigns, but fails to deliver. Yondalla is simply dull, and very little about her is appealing or interesting.

Pelor. The annoying god of ultimate good. No even close historical basis -- even good gods have their faults. And of healing, too. When every cleric heals, that ceases to be special.

The List Isn't Even Complete...

What happened to Pholtus ? No Theocracy of the Pale in your Greyhawk ? No "Oh Blinding Light" sung to the tune of Silent Night ? Or was that Oh Tannenbaum ? Aka the Xmas Tree Thingie ?

Kord is a musclebound jerkface moron-god. Seems like all his power derives from how he worships himself.

Fharlanganinganan, though... there's an unpronounceable name I've grown to love.

She was always Lolth, especially back when your MU was killed in Q1, back in the day. The Lloth thing is a typo some diehard novel fans cling to.

I prefer Lloth, actually. Blasphemy, I know. It just "sounds" more elvish to me.

This despite the fact that WotC actually corrected it in the more recent printings of the novels.

Bastards!

Anyway, let's get rid of Pelor. I find him irrelevant when Pholtus is also around. (Actually, you could get rid of either, and not make a big difference.)

Goodbye Lolth. You were fun back when you were a Demon Queen of Spiders who, among other things, bossed the drow along. But that's where you went wrong...you tied yourself up with those has-been losers and they are like an anchor dragging you to your death.

Well said!

Lolth gets my vote too. She's not even consistent with how she spells her name. What kind of a god is that?
