Cosmere picked up by Apple TV

What may be Apple TV’s first fantasy adaptation rights (was See fantasy?), Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere was grabbed by Apple TV.

Reporting says Brandon has immense creative control.

Good. He learned the lesson with Wheel of Time and has been very public about not letting his IP get damaged.

He is very regimented in his work schedule. He was projecting that he would publish around six or seven Cosmere novels in the next five years, but now we may only get four based on his recent updates.
And that's all due to a bad Apple... :p

I tried reading some of the BS novels, but it didn't mesh with me at the time. Maybe a TV series might change my view on that world...

Cosmere is a slow burn versus novels like Mistborn. It has an excellent set of characters and I like the unique magic system but it takes a long time to peel back the layers.

Try reading The Emperor's Soul: very short novella, self-contained and standalone award winning story.

I think the Stormlight Archive novels will adept very well to a TV series, which each book being a season, With WoT being canceled, this has an opportunity to provide a new classic Light vs Darkness fantasy show with interesting characters.

Mistborn should play out very well for the big screen, with tighter/more compact narratives (less epic feel).

Looking forward to seeing what comes of this given Apple's excellent track record.

Sanderson is pretty much the anti-Martin when it comes to deadlines. Dude's a machine.

My only actual concern for the Cosmere is if he'll be able to keep up the pace into his 50s and 60s, especially since Stormlight probably won't end until about 2040.
Agreed, Sanderson is ridiculous efficient and dedicated. I watched him answer questions for an audience while at the same time an assistant was handing him documents to sign. Multitasking fiend!

Apple does fewer things, but with higher quality, than some other studios. I find virtually every thing of theirs I watch is excellent and creator driven."
I completely agree with Brandon here. AppleTV frankly has consistently the best Tv shows on the market.

Not every show is to my liking but they all have been high quality. I am very happy he choose Apple for this. If Apple can do foundation as well as they have, I have full confidence they can do Cosmere.

I'm actually more excited for a Mistborn movie than for the Stormlight TV show. Even while reading Mistborn Book 1, I kept thinking about how intensely cinematics the action scenes were. Everything Allomancy does, with increased strength, senses, emotion-affecting, and metal telekinesis, is easy to film with relatively little VFX needed.
