Cosmographer Pro - Coolest Program I can't figure out!

I am by no means a genius when it comes to CC2 programs, but I'm having some more difficulty with the new Cospmographer then I've had with previous CC2 installments.

Round or even rounded off designs seem extremely tricky to a novice like myself. Do any of the pros have any recommendations?

Also, I don't get how or why you'd have a "Hull" layer. I would rather just go straight to "Deck 1", since it's not like you have outside details like windows, exterior airlocks or similar images. Or do you? Perhaps I'm just not used to it or I'm not looking in the right place.

Really I'm looking for any pointers anyone can give me.

Thanks in advance,

I have only just started playing with it myself. You may want to post your questions to the CC-L Mailing list for more detail answers.

Hull is for weapon mounts, air locks, R2D2s and coloring.

You cannot, unfortunately, make a curved hull with the "hull" button. Not ideal, but this is what I've been doing as a workaround. You'll be getting very familiar with the "multipoly" button

1) Draw your hull in the shape you want, using separate lines and arcs.
2) Click the multipoly button, and select all the segments of the hull, then right click and selec "do it." Multipoly joins them into a single, filled polygon that maintains your curved edges.
3) add a black outline with that nifty button if desired.

When designing the interior of a curved ship, it can be very tricky, as the rooms may also need to be multipolied, unless you don't mind some wasted space within the curves. Also, placing symbols on the curved parts of the hull can be hit or miss as far as how they look.

Good Luck :)
