Cosmopolitan - did this change in PGtF and how?

Did WotC need to take away a feat that gave access to a new class skill?

  • Yes, it was overpowered/broken/a generally bad idea

Of course that doesnt say that there is a problem with having a feat that does it, merely that some prc's are too easy to get into. In which case the prc should be changed, not the feat. ;)
I do sooooooo agree with you ;) Guess I'll write together my PrClass rant (which includes that remark) and put it into my sig like Camarath put his usual rant stuff ...
That sounds pretty cool, bit lopesided though ;/ usually prefer feats to be about as useful for everyone who has a use for taking it.
You're right somehow... but I really do like that feat and have yet to see it abused (even with Int 20 wizards at level 1). Most PCs who took it had Int 14...

UA has one too, right?

Yes, Skill Knowledge (P81) allows to current class skills from any class you already have to become class skills for all classes

That's only within the context of the "Variant: Fewer Choices, Max Ranks" optional rule. It doesn't give you new class skills per se -- it just give you maximum ranks in two skills (full for in-class, half for cross-class), like all other known skills in that system.

Following the theme of non-DND d20s that allow such... talented gives you one skill made class skill from your cross-class list and gives a +1 bonus with that skill.

FWIW, i give one free talented feat to each PC at first level, allowing a bit of customization off the start.

That's a pretty good idea.

Customization is really important...starting out with the process in mind from 1st Level really helps.

re

I'm kind of glad they changed it. We house ruled that all skills are class skills awhile ago, so it is still useful in our campaign.

What I'll probably be doing is letting *every* character choose one skill that is always a class skill for them. Humans, and maybe half-elves, will get two such skills.

Everyone's going to get a couple of extra skill points, as well -- probably an additional 2/level.
