I DM a Pathfinder 1e campaign and my friend DMs a Dolmenwood campaign, which is like 1st edition D&D.
In my campaign, they roll 4d6, drop the lowest and keep the rolls in order: Str, Dex, Con, Int, Wis, Cha. Then, they have the option of either rerolling one ability score and having to keep the reroll, or switching two ability score rolls.
In my friend’s campaign, we rolled 3d6 in the old order of Str, Int, Wis, Dex, Con, Cha. My wife and I each have two characters. I have one character with two 6s and an 18; and my other character’s stats were all between 8 and 13.
