Could you stop throwing insults around?

Please?

I am excited about the idea of the mags going digital.

If that's "stupid", what does that make me?

CUT IT OUT.

It's a "stupid" act on WoTC's part because they could release their own online content without killing the print magazines.

It leads me to believe that their online content won't be able to compete with the quality product Paizo produced. Their online content to date helps solidify my personal opinion on this.

I'll check out what they have to offer if they are smart about it. A new magazine needs a way to allow readers to browse the content for a while before jumping on board with a fully-paid subscription. If WoTC expects me to pay for something I can't judge the value of ahead of time or offer a money back gaurantee then they can keep dreaming of their newage business model.

Sucks, to be sure. But, if it was bad enough to make me quit, I wouldn't have come here to complain, I'd have just quit.

I have what I need to play 3.5 for years to come, so if Hasbro decided to kill D&D, it wouldn't be enough to make me quit D&D, let alone RPGs.

We don't get the magazines here, and since they are not going to be published anymore we're not getting them ever. Which is a good thing, because I won't be quitting the game in spite of stopping to get them, unless they start to be published again and become available here.

It won't drive me away from the hobby and it certainly won't stop me from buying WotC books. I've never given a damn about Dungeon or Dragon.

But do you not see the difference between "preferable" and "they have KILLED the hobby's lifeline, I am boycotting their products forever".

.

No, they have not killed the hobby's lifeline. I agree that's an overreaction.

The actual number of people who will follow through and indeed boycott all WotC products will be very, very small.

That's a shame too because a huge boycott that actually affected profits (I know it's not going to happen) would cause them to reverse this horrible (imo) decision.

I am disappointed with the passing of these two giants. I have relied on them for inspiration in months when I don't have too much money for other gaming products.

I'm not sure if I will support the Digital Initiative, but will avidly support the Pathfinder magazine. I'm not going to abandon D&D over this, even though I'm one of the sort of people that prefer to hold something solid in my hands.

I think this thread is an over-reaction, and the poll choices biased. Couldn't you just say "yes", "no" or "maybe"?

Anyway, I voted for the second option, despite the bias. I don't really care one way or another.
Well, it would have been an over-reaction, if the thread was something along the lines of "Lets Boycott Wotc!" or "You should quit gaming!", but it's not. There have been a lot of comments in other threads about whether WotC is biting the hand that feeds it with this decision, so I wanted to get a idea of how many fans would actually quit over something like this.

While I could have worded the questions a dozen different ways, the intent was 1)No Way, 2) No, but it sucks, 3)This really bothered me, but probably no, or 4)Yes.

To be honest, I'm surprised 5 people so far have taken option 4. If you go by standard business numbers, ie for every person who complains 20 remain silent, that's a lot of lost customers for WotC.
