Could the Death of Dragon actually drive you away from D&D?

And Pink Floyd and the Beatles aren't gone.

Because there will still be Beatles and Pink Floyd-like material released in commercials.

Cool!

With this logic, nothing great ever dies as long as it can be loosely replicated by a corporate entity in a cheaper format! Hoody Hoo!

:)

No, this isn't the same as old material being regurgitated.

There is NEW MATERIAL ON THE WAY.

I just disagree with you.

I'm an angered and frustrated as anyone else but make me give up the hobby?

uh-uh. Let's not go nuts here.

What it will do is make me so disgusted with WotC as to make me start looking elsewhere for my gaming needs.

They haven't been "killed".

There will still Dungeon and Dragon-like content online.

For me, they have indeed been killed. I understand your point but I definitely do not agree with it. The physical substance of a paper magazine will ALWAYS be preferable (to me anyway) to e-content.

If that makes me a dinosaur, so be it. <shrug>

It's not a matter of 'us leaving the Hobby.' It's a matter of 'the Hobby is leaving us behind.'

Well said.

I can see it being preferable. I like reading physical books too.

But do you not see the difference between "preferable" and "they have KILLED the hobby's lifeline, I am boycotting their products forever".

That's what I'm talking about. A lot of people have taken point 1 and confused it with point 2.

No.

I'll miss Dungeon and Dragon mag, but I expect Paizo's Pathfinder to fill the void. And even if it doesn't, my D&D lives on without a supporting magazine.

I hope Paizo carries on with the Adventure Paths! I haven't seen anything of Savage Tides yet, but I loved AoW and SC. Hopefully now Paizo can get AoW released in Hardcover.

Edit: I just read up on Pathfinder. So cool, Paizo is doing a new AP! What happens to Savage Tides? Will it be completed?

I own exactly five copies of Dragon magazine, that were given to me by my cousin twelve years ago when I started playing DND. I can quite honestly say that the cancellation of these magazines will have no impact on my game.

And I also wonder, am I unique in that I don't particularly care about the format I get information in? I don't care whether an article is on the internet or in a magazine, I only care about the article.

Could you stop throwing insults around?

Please?

I am excited about the idea of the mags going digital.

If that's "stupid", what does that make me?

CUT IT OUT.

That could be said both ways.

[end]

I won't stop playing the hobby. Hell, I could still be running OD&D and still having fun.

What WoTC has done is to piss me off enough to stop buying books from them that I don't need. Which is all of them. I've got the Core books plus others which offer more options than I will ever use.

IF they can prove that they are not killing the content of Dungeon that I truly want then I will become a customer again. Until then I have my books, a great group and my own imagination to sustain me for the rest of my gaming life.
