"Counterspell" turning attempts?

Phaedrus

First Post
Scenario: An evil cleric with his undead minions confronts the party which contains a good cleric. The evil cleric knows the good cleric will attempt to turn the skeletons/zombies/whatever.

Shouldn't the evil cleric be able to expend a turning attempt to block the good cleric's turning attempt? A "-1" cancelling out a "+1"? Like counterspelling...

Anyone already doing something like this?

The evil cleric can 'bolster' the undead (see turning rules) beforehand. This means that the good cleric has to beat the evil clerics 'maximum HD of undead turned' to affect any of them.

Geoff.

Yes, but bolstering is not the same as countering (similar, but not the same).

Does anyone see introducing turning attempts as counters to other turning attempts as unbalancing?

Shouldn't be, I'd think...

For rules: The cleric counter channeling rolls max HD along with the channeling cleric. If the countering cleric gets equal or greater max level of undead affected they both roll turning damage, and the countering cleric's damage is subtracted from the channeling cleric's turning damage.

That work?
