Coup de grace question...

Drasmir

First Post
This may be a stupid question ("There are no stupid questions..."- yeah right:D ), but I was wondering if a coup de grace is performed by a character, does that character get his full attack action or are they only allowed to use one attack? I assumed that it was only one attack, but another player I game with said that it is the full attack. I have listed the SRD listing below for reference:

Coup de grace [Full][AoO: Yes]
Description: A character can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace to a helpless foe. A character can also use a bow or crossbow, provided the character is adjacent to the target. The attacker automatically hits and scores a critical hit. If the target survives the damage, the target must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die.
Any help provided is greatly appreciated!:)

One attack.

Coup De Grace is a seperate, unique-unto-itself Full Round Action.

Full Attack is a seperate, unique-unto-itself Full Round Action.

The two cannot be combined.

Yep. Spend your entire round doing nothing but this one, very careful attack. Usually it's worth it, if you need to keep the person down.

Thanks guys. That's what I thought because it is a full round action (not a full attack action as Pax mentioned). Now I get to rub it in my friend's face. Thanks guys!

I know a feat (from sword and fist) but can't catch it name, it allows you to perform Coup de Grâce as a simple action !

I believe Death Blow is a Standard Action (which I suppose could be synonymous with Simple in this case). Alternately, you could take a few (don't recall how many) levels of Gladiator and get a similar ability as a class feature.
