Couple of Soulknife questions

Stalker0

Legend
1) Can you combine psychic strike and bladeweave and hit all of the opponets with your psi strike?

2) Let's say you have 2 feats that require expending psionic focus (psychic weapon and fell strike). Can you only use 1 feat per expenditure of psi focus, or can you get the benefits of both?

3) Can you release psi focus and get the benefits on all hits of bladeweave?

You can only use 1 feat per expenditure of psi focus.

Where did you come to this conclusion? There is nothing in the feat description that says this!

Just a wild guess, but I am going to assume he probably got it on page 39 under "Psionic Feats" heading where it states:

When you expend your psionic focus, it applies only to the action for which you expend it. For example, if you use the Deep Impact feat (which requires you to expend your psionic focus), you can not use the Psionic Weapon feat for the same attack, because you expended your focus to use Deep Impact.

First, I assume you mean bladewind, not bladeweave.

Next, bladewind is a separate attack roll against each target.

Psychic Strike is pretty specific in "This effect deals an extra 1d8 points of damage to the next living, nonmindless target he successfully hits with a melee attack"

So, with bladewind, you are attacking multiple targets. I think it's pretty obvious that no, the damage would not go to all targets attacked.

For psionic focus, RigaMortus2 has already answered it, but if it helps, think of psionic focus in terms of a counter. When you gain psionic focus, you have 1 counter. Expending your focus means you lose that counter. You can't use 1 counter for 2 effects - unless you have the EPIC PSIONIC FOCUS feat, which allows you to power 2 psionic focus expending feats with only one focus.

For your last question: from Psionic Weapon "your attack with a melee weapon deals an extra 2d6 points of damage."

Since bladewind is a multitude of attacks, no, it would not work.

On the other hand, power attack (and any enhancements you have on your soulblade) should apply to all the attacks made during a bladewind

Alright thanks guys. I'm probably delving into a bit of houserules territory right now, but I know some have expressed the opinion that the soulknife is a bit on the weak side. What if they gained the ability to bladewind and get all of the benefits, or could use psionic focus on multiple feats...do you think that would balance them back up, or go overboard?

WotC's 2nd most recent Mind's Eye article also provides some class feature variants for the Soulknife (and other classes). One replaces Wild Talent with Hidden Talent (very nice), another substitutes feats everytime Psychic Strike increases (also very nice).
