Craghammer Twin Strike Madness

Bloo

First Post
Check me out if I'm missing something here. I haven't actually had a chance to play and am in the process of making my first characters.

Dwarf Ranger, standard score array (assigned 16, 13, 12, 10, 14, 11) resulting in: Str 16 (+3), Con 15 (+2) , Dex 12 (+1), Int 10, Wis 16 (+3), Cha 11

Two-Weapon Style, Hunter's Quarry (+1d6 damage vs. quarry)
Feat: Weapon Proficiency (Craghammer)
Craghamme: +2 (prof), 1d10, Hammer, Brutal 2, Versatile
Twin Strike (Ranger 1 At Will): wielding two craghammers
Attack: +5 [+2 (prof) +3 (str)]
Damage: 13-32! (avg: 22.5)
1st hit: 7-19 [1d10 brutal 2 = 3-10 +3 (str) + 1d6 (quarry)]
2nd hit: 6-13 [1d10 brutal 2 = 3-10 +3 (str)] (this is also basic melee attack damage)

At Level 2 add Feat: Dwarven Weapon Training for +2 Damage with hammers resulting in
Attack: +6 [+2 (prof) +3 (str) +1 (level/2)]
Damage: 17-36! (avg: 26.5)
1st hit: 9-21 [3-10 +3 (str) +2 (dwarf training) + 1d6 (quarry)]
2nd hit: 8-15 [3-10 +3 (str) +2 (dwarf training)]

That's looking pretty good if correct, yeah?

I think there was a discussion on Dwarven Weapon Training the other day, and that most felt that it gave dwarf characters proficiency with all hammers and axes, so you could take it at Level 1 and dual wield the Craghammers.

A couple things:

1, You don't get to add Str modifier to damage on Twin Strike, even though Hunter's Quarry and Dwarven Weapon Training still apply.
2, You don't need Weapon Proficiency, Dwarven Weapon Training already covers that.

Yep.

Now, you are going to be missing some. But it's still pretty good.

Edit: Except, yeah, that whole no +Str/+Dex on Twin Strike damage.

But still not bad. Our dwarf ranger uses axes right now and he's quite happy, and does sick damage when he hits.

Thanks. I figured I was missing something.
I guess Two Fanged Strike and Jaws of the Wolf will have to do.

Nice to know about the Dwarves and Craghammers proficiency. Weapon Focus will apply on Twin Strike, won't it?

Both Weapon Focus and Dwarven Weapon Training provides the same type of bonus (feat bonus), thus they won't stack.

If you want to further increase your damage with a feat, look for Two Weapon Fighting as it's untyped and will also add to twin strike, except only the main hand attack.

Lethal Hunter is also a decent one - I'd do that before Two-Weapon Fighting unless you're working towards Two Weapon Defense (LH works on off hand hits when main misses and does more damage on crits)

I apologize for the thread necro, however I searched and this seemed to be the most relevant thread to my question. The magic enhancement bonus on the weapons applies even though str and dex don't, correct?
