these unique crystals are harvested from rocky surface immediately to the rear of the waterfall that defines the city-scape on particular times of the year...The Shades have a robust black market dealing in these crystals which are difficult and extremely to expensive to acquire.

While every city has its share of crime and unrest, most of the citizens are easy going with each other, with different racial groups living in more or less harmony. The different races often feel more comfortable among others like them, with the buildings and decoration reflecting the most prevelant culture in the neighborhood, but there is no serious emnity or oppression of any group.

Except for the demons, of course.

There is one demon who makes his home in the city. He has yet to break any laws even though many people are suspicious of him. The odd thing that according to Paladins he does not detect as evil.

Each entrance (that the city leaders know about) is watched over by a large crystal beacon, that glows a violent purple in the presence of demonic entities.

Similar, smaller crystals are often sold to citizens, and mounted above, or in doors to their homes, though they are less powerful, and less reliable.

Hanging a crystal with its thin end pointing up is considered a sign of luck. A crystal with its thin end pointing down is a sign of a curse or bad luck. This superstition is very well ingrained to the people who live in the city though many travelrs don't give it any credit.

The underworld of the city is controlled by a Guild of well trained Assassins and Rogues, known as The Shades, and it is controlled and run by a Vampire Lord, who is as old as the city.

The Vampire Lord's name is Edam Gouda, but most refer to him as " the Big Cheese " it is not widely known that he is a Vampire, and he will go to any lengths to keep this hidden. His guildhouse is located in the wealthy section of town, and he fronts his guild as an importer of Exotic Items. He also has 2 warehouses in the Merchants district, and runs two Inns in the Lower districts. These Inns are where most of the shady dealings go on. The first one is the Dragons Tale, and is run by his 2nd in command, a dour Dwarf named Gorm the Grim.
