Creative fighting in D&D...

Don't worry about game effects; worry about description. I have a rogue PC that I play, and if I want him to duck behind a bar to get some cover, I don't just say "I duck behind the bar" I say, "Harven does a backflip using Tumble to land, still standing, behind the bar."

Add color through description, and it will add to the game.
