Creativity and Roleplaying

Currently, I'm taking a night class called the Pyschology of Creativity. As part of the class, I have to write a 1500 to 2000 word research paper (it can be longer) and have to give a 30-minute presentation regarding the same topic.

We were given the option of picking from a list of topics or coming up with our own topic. I've decided to write about the creativity of roleplaying games.

So, I'm in the process of doing research for the assignments. I'm looking to find out what other people have written about roleplaying, from a scholarly point-of-view.

Opinion pieces, blog posts, published research, etc.

Since this is a creativity class, I have some flexibility of how I write the paper.

Anyway, I'm looking for source suggestions and opinions from those in the industry.

It should be a fun experience.

It's not ironic (to me). It's a requirement. The paper must reflect more than just my opinion.

You might try XDM: XTreme Dungeon Mastery, by Tracy and Curtis Hickman. You can read my review of it here.

This book deals quite a bit with the creative aspects of roleplaying, and in particular, storytelling. Tons of great ideas in there.
