why does this thing get a racial feat for free? where does it say that? I see for 1st level it would but unless he get's a bonus feat rip it out.

really, that high? i wasn't expecting that. gnolls and lizardfolk are both 2HD and only LA+1.

For the Will save to avoid the battle frenzy, I'd suggest DC 10 + points of damage suffered since its last action (if any). This is the mechanic used for the frenzied berserker prestige class.

By the way, how do you pronounce caiveh? I'm guessing KY-veh. I wish all monsters would come with pronunciations.

hmm, but it's more of a stress thing than a "you hurt hulk, hulk smash!" thing.

i agree, i pronounce it that way too (well, more like KY-vay). a couple of guys in my gaming group pronounce most names differently than i do, and sometimes i have to ask them what they're talking about and go "Duh! you meant this..."

i was wondering about that "bonus" feat myself. does it work that way? and i think i can live with an LA of +2.

The racial feat thing is the terminology they are using in the 3.5 Monster Manual. I cut and pasted it from the gnoll. I think it is basically saying "don't forget your first level feat that all creatures are entitled to". So it's not actually a bonus feat.
