D&D 3E/3.5 Creature Catalog 3.5 Overhaul Project

maybe so. :) we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. i'll re-read the Faerunian fachan's description over again and see if fey would be appropriate for it or not.

Considering they're said to be derived from orcs and associated with Gruumsh, I think they're pretty far removed from fey. I'd say that either aberration or monstrous humanoid suits them best.

I agree. We could leave fey for the Celtic Fachan from Shade's post.

I don't see the Faerunian version as "feyworthy" either. I could see 'em as giants, though (despite their size). Otherwise, I'd lean towards monstrous humanoid over aberration.

yeah, i really wasn't seeing fey either. my original instinct was aberration, as they are certainly strange enough to count as one (weird anatomy especially), but they are close enough to humanoids that i could see them stretched into monstrous humanoids.

It's definitely an oddball, that's for sure. I'd probably lean towards monstrous humanoid as their anatomy is simply less of the same anatomy, not weird bits like tentacles and whatnot. ;)

all right, all right, you want Monstrous Humanoid you got it. :p

The 3.5 fachan gets 2 feats. I reccomend Weapon Finesse (of course) and perhaps Ability Focus (poison) or Stealthy. How was the headbutt DC determined? Dex? I'd recommend using Str.

The 3.0 version has a Listen bonus of +4 (which I assume is just the listed +4 racial bonus), but with the description of "fantastically keen hearing" I would suggest maxing out the Listen skill and maybe also increasing the racial bonus.

I don't see the fachan as being able to move very quietly due to it's bounding movement so instead of Stealthy I would suggest Skill Focus (Hide).

Head Butt (Ex): This attack causes 1d6+1 damage if the opponent fails his Reflex save (DC 18). In addition, the opponent will be stunned for that round and every round thereafter until he makes a successful Fort save (DC 12).

i must have used Dex for the first save, and Con for the second.

so, Skill Focus (Hide) or Ability Focus (poison) seem likely feats then...

and Weapon Finesse is a given. :)

Posted in Homebrews for a look-see.
