For the ability to speak with all canines, perhaps we can borrow from the gnome and use the following:

Spell-Like Abilities: 1/day—speak with animals (canines only, duration 1 minute).

Yeah, but that does limit the usage quite a bit, when before it doesn’t seem magical and can be used at will. I could swear I was just looking through the MM and saw a similar creature that had “can also speak with” in the descriptive text…

About anuchu characters... I like Animal, Good, and Plant, too. Maybe we should just leave out the part about who they worship, though, since there's nothing on it; besides, given their connection to nature, I think it's more likely that they're just nature-worshipers. Maybe most of their spellcasters are druids or adepts?

i agree on leaving out who they worship; many races don't even list that. and i suspect they have more druids than anything else...

Hmmm...I can't seem to find one. They seem to have eliminated "animal speech" as far as I can tell. For example, the barghest can speak Worg, while the Worg can speak Worg but doesn't mention that it can speak with wolves. Ettercaps don't speak "spider".

If you want it to last all the time, we could just say they are under a continuous speak with animals effect that pertains only to canine creatures.

As for the "anuchus worship" bit...I copied that from another entry, that actually had a deity listed. My bad.

that must be in the SRD, because the MM says "Worgs speak their own language." although it does say the barghest can speak Worg. anyway, semantics...

i was sure i had seen that! or maybe it's just my senility acting up again.

i propose "Canine empathy" as an Ex ability, that allows them to understand each other.
