y'think so? and some other thoughts i had while i was looking over the stats...

spell resistance is just barely over the typical mind flayer's. i think it needs to be better than 26.

mind flayers have Sense Motive now, so this should too.

i noticed that mind flayers have a decidedly "religious" tone to their Organization line. i think i'll change these guys to "Solitary or sect (...)"

I second the votes for SR 30, adding Sense Motive, and changing organizational group to "sect".

I'd keep the recover ability, but change it to (Su). It seems very similar to the monk's wholeness of body ability, which is (Su).

Only requiring 3 tentacles rather than all six to extract seems reasonable. It is more powerful than the normal mind flayer, which only needs to hit with 4 (which is, of course, all it has).

I agree with Krishnath's suggestions on the feats.

OK, posted in homebrews! about all that needs settling is spell-like ability version of psionics, and a description! :)

Here is what I’m thinking for skills:

Skills: Bluff +20, Concentration +15, Diplomacy +19, Disguise +7 (+9 acting), Hide +13, Intimidate +21, Knowledge (any two) +18, Listen +16, Move Silently +13, Sense Motive +10, Spot +16

Psionics (Sp): At will-astral projection, charm monster (DC 21), detect thoughts (DC 19), eyebite (DC 23), legend lore, levitate, plane shift, suggestion (DC 20), telekinesis (DC 22), teleport, true seeing. Effective caster level 10th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

The only ability I couldn't find an alternate for was forget.

Do we want to take this passage into consideration: "All saving throws against them are at -4"?

This strange humanoid-shaped being stands over seven feet tall. It wears a robe of fine silk and a high-crowned headress. Its flesh is rubbery and dark greenish-mauve, glistening with slime. The creature's head bears six-tentacles surrounding a maw of jagged, saw-like teeth, made all the more horrible by a pair of bloated white eyes.

modify memory?

do we want to give them a bunch of feats to boots the save DC's? :) doesn't a higher Cha compensate for them being harder to save against than a typical mind flayer?

That'll work.

The Cha score should cover it. The difference in the Cha scores of a standard mind flayer and the ulitharid works out to grant exactly a +4 difference. Did you plan it this way? ;)
