I’d say the illithid one is ready to go. I’ll share all the queries with you again one more time before I send them.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. So to summarize, and add a few more ideas...

Energy guy: resistance or immunity to positive and negative energy, energy charge (from MM3 glossary, bestows positive levels, wasn't used by anyting in the book) and energy drain abilities.

Transitive guy: ethereal jaunt as Su ability (like ethereal filcher and marauder), similar abilities for astral travel and shadow walk, spell-like abilities related to these planes.

Portal guy: These guys could double as sentinels for an additional role, since the rilmani homeplane is the hub of the multiverse. Give 'em planar attunement, spell-like abilities related to portals and planar travel, defensive stance, immunity to the negative effects of the River Styx (Oceanus seems harmless), and abilities to sense and/or control planar breaches.

?-ach
Outsider, CR 6
These are the rilmani agents for the energy planes (Positive and Negative). They are immune to the effects of these planes, and can use positive energy charge and negative energy drain attacks.

?-ach
Outsider, CR 10
These are the rilmani agents on the transitive planes (Astral, Ethereal, Shadow). They can use ethereal jaunt, astral travel, and shadow walk at will, and have spell-like powers related to these planes.

?-ach
Outsider, CR 15
These rilmani are guardians of the pathways between planes, serving as sentinels for the portals and planar breaches of the multiverse. They patrol the Outlands, and places such as the Rivers Styx (they are immune to its effects) and Oceanus, Mount Olympus, and Ygdrassil (sp?). They can sense and control planar breaches, and have the ability to close and open portals (permanently if desired).

All rilmani have physical weapons that they attack with, and most have a unique supernatural attack form.

One way to take care of the names and appearance at the same time is to assign metallic appearances. We have the Cuprilach (cuprum, copper), Argenach (aregentum, silver), Aurumach (aurum, gold), Ferrumach (ferrum, iron) already, for example.

Other metals, such as Mercury, Zinc, Aluminum, Titanium, Nickel, Cobalt, etc could be used.

In the meantime, following your lead, I checked a latin dictionary and the periodic table...

Hydrargyrnach (mercury)
Stannumach (tin)
Wolframach (tungsten)
Stibiumach (antimony*)
Alumenach (aluminum)
Sulphurimach (sulfur, "brimstone")
Titanach (titanium)
Eletrumach (electrum)
Zincumach (zinc)
Orichalcumach (brass)
Aeneusach or pyropusach (bronze)

*In case you didn't know what antimony is (I didn't): The stable form of antimony is a blue-white metal.

Oddly, the abiorach doesn't fit this format.

true on the abiorach.. and the plumach? The names don’t have to be metallica (hehe), but that does make it easier. ;) I’ll think on this at home, as I’m just posting and leaving. :)

Let’s get the faerie query (heehee!) underway.

In the Creature Catalog, we have (smaller than Medium, of course!):
Asrai, Atomie, Booka, Bramble, Brownie, Buckawn, Dobie, Ekrat, Faerie Fiddler, Flitterling, Frost, Gorse, Killmoulis, Leprechaun, Nightshade, Quickling, Squeaker, and Stwinger.

And that's just what we have done so far!

this thread has a lot more hints on conversions, and ideas for real world legends we could convert.

And we definitely need some more malevolent fey... (bramble, nightshade, and quickling are a nice start)

The plumarch may be plumbum, lead.

Energy planes - Iridimach (Iridium)?
Transitive planes - Hydragymach (Quicksilver/hydrargyrum)?
Portals - ? (Barium, being the last metal before the Lanthanides show up?)

I think the plumach is based on lead.
I think you two are right.

Knight Otu said:
Humm, might abiorach be based on abiotic?
I bet you're right.

I'm definitely groovin' on Hydragymach for transitive guy, since silver was already used, quicksilver is the next best thing for the Astral plane.

Iridium, meaning "of rainbows", might be better for the portal guy, since color pools occur in a rainbow of colors, and are portals to other planes.

For energy planes, how about electrumach, since the word "electricity" was derived from the latin word "electrum", and electricity deals with positive and negative? Plus, electrum is a classic D&D metal.

Those ideas seem fine as well, though we shouldn't repeat my typo on the Hydrargymach (though it might end up giving the opportunity of planned overlap between a 4th Ed Tome of Horrors and WotC products :p).

You know what the big problem with rilmani names is? It is so damn tempting to type -arch instead of -ach. :p

any comments on the faerie query? ;)

OK, here are the rilmani we’re going to be suggesting. For appearances, the new guys should have the physical properties of the metal they resemble. The original rilmani resembled humanoid such as humans, elves, and dwarves… we could make the new ones like halflings, gnomes, or even goblins or orcs (but with less hair and physical features).

And as I said before, all existing rilmani have physical weapons that they attack with, and most have a unique supernatural attack form – so I think the newer ones should have them, too.

Plumach
Outsider, CR 5
These are the common citizens, craftspeople, and workers of rilmani society. They do not work to maintain the balance in anywhere other than the Outlands, but are tough little buggers when it comes to defending their home. They resemble dwarves with dull grey metallic skin.

Electrumach
Outsider, CR 6
These are the rilmani agents for the energy planes (Positive and Negative). They are immune to the effects of these planes, and can use positive energy charge and negative energy drain attacks.

Abiorach
Outsider, CR 7
These are the rilmani agents on the elemental planes, watching to make sure that the denizens of each plane do not become too powerful. They can shift from one elemental plane to another at will, and attune themselves to whichever elemental plane they are on, gaining spell-like abilities based on the plane and cannon summon elementals of that type. They look like adolescent humans with a silvery sheen to their skin, carrying magical tridents.

Hydrargymach
Outsider, CR 10
These are the rilmani agents on the transitive planes (Astral, Ethereal, Shadow). They can use ethereal jaunt, astral travel, and shadow walk at will, and have spell-like powers related to these planes.

Argenach
Outsider, CR 14
These rilmani serve as both advisors and agitators, particularly on Material Plane. They serve in conflicts on whichever side is weakest, and hamper the strongest. They can fire a ray of silvery light from their hands that deals a different energy type, depending on what their foe is vulnerable to. These rilmani look like tall, slender humanoids with smooth, silvery skin, and carry magical greatswords.

These rilmani are guardians of the pathways between planes, serving as sentinels for the portals and planar breaches of the multiverse. Not much luck with homebrewed fey this time around. I posted the cloudwisp on Randomlings House once, but other than that, most other fey are medium or larger. Those that aren't are part of a group, the animae (basically animal spirits).
On the creature by poll front, we had the moss gnome.
I suppose I could dig through my Seventh Sanctum file to find some fitting names and create them afterwards, though. ;)

hey, i'll defintely take a CBP monster. :)

Edit: weren't the brownie and one other fey recently converted on the Wotc site?
