Creature Catalog VI in Dragon #355

I just have a quick question for Boz, Shade, and Demiurge, did the Dragon editors specifically ask for you to be contributors to the Creature Catalog or did your contributions go through the normal query process?
Yeah, all of my contributions came from themed queries that were picked apart. Ironically, any of the individual monsters I solicited for use in the Creature Catalog didn't get chosen.

Demiurge out.

As usual, Alzrius got it first...

Creature Catalog VI, by Thomas M. Costa, Kevin Baase and Eric Jansing, Nick Herold, Jason Bulmahn, C. Wesley Clough, and John Flemming - Twelve new monsters (some updated from older editions of the game) are presented here (the first page presents who is responsible for what monsters): the black beast of bedlam (CR 14), cave fisher (CR 3), giant dragonfly (CR 2), dungeon phantom (CR 6), rot giant (CR 8), cannon golem (CR 14), maedar (CR 4), obliviax (CR 1), scarecrow (CR 3), seedroach (CR 1; the seedroach swarm is CR 7), giant slug (CR 7), an springheel (CR 8). The obliviax has a sidebar presenting it as a hazard as well. It's also worth noting that a few minor variants of scarecrows are also given in its entry.

It looks like the quickling didn't make the cut this time. The maedar was our other missing creature.

And yea for the variant scarecrows making the cut! :D

Congrats to Demiurge for getting three critters into this one!

Oh, and there's this...

NEXT MONTH IN DRAGON #356

FERROUS DRAGONS
by Eric Jansing and Kevin Baase
Five all-new dragons, chromium, cobalt, iron, nickel, and tungsten take wing, spreading dread and awe with steely fangs and razored claws.

:D

Now I can say openly that the giant dragonfly, seedroach and springheel are my contributions. Although the dragonfly seems to have changed in the editing. Mine was CR 1/2! I'm guessing that it was just advanced - I included advancement guidelines for them from their base 1 HD all the way into the 20s.

Demiurge out.

Cannon Golem ?

To those who wrote this article: where does this golem come from ? Is it a conversion or a new monster ?

(Sorry for my ignorance, I actually started playing D&D for real when the 3rd edition, so I don't know much about the 2nd or even the 1st edition... shame on me.)

That wasn't one of ours, but I very confident it is a new-to-3E creature.
