Creature Collection III Open Call

It's just me or the description of Asherak sounds a bit like Dark Sun?
I mean "gigantic tortoises slowly cross the desert", "It is home of mighty city-states and ancient theocracies, ruled over by god-kings and bureaucracies of clerics"

Not to hijack the thread but that comes to mind when I was reading the description of Asherak.
Anyway goodluck to all the people sending entries for this, I don't know enough of Scarred Lands to send any.

Asherak

I had a necromancer named "Asherak" the name is from the Belgareth Chronicles or somthing. I don't mind it being pirated for a character's name, if it's printed then that's a given, -but a monster- that's not right . . .

On the surface? Yeah, it kinda does.

If Joe turns me loose on Asherak the way I've tentatively talked about with him--don't you worry. :D

Sure, if you replace all mention of gods with...not gods.

But yeah, there is only so many ways in which one might describe such a setting. I mean, by that logic, Ancient Egypt sounds like Dark Sun. ;)

Ooh! Ooh!

Can I write the stats and the histories for the Not-Gods? I've got some really cool ideas for some UnDomains and some AbSpells they can grant their NonClerics. :D

You know, I've been waiting for a way to wedge-in Ancient Egypt into Scarred Lands so I can transplant Necropolis :D

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "TOO MANY MONSTER BOOKS"!!!

:D

I dunno - I've bought the SRCS:Ghelspad recently, and am currently reading through it. I think it is pretty good, but I'm fairly confused by all the references to creatures from (I presume) the Creature Collections. What the hell are "Pisceans"? I gather that they are titanspawn and some kind of aquatic monsters, but apart from that...

Sure, having some variety is nice, but if you need additional books to get into the setting, the setting becomes less accessible to newbies (or perhaps I misunderstood something and SRCS:Ghelspad is not the core setting book...).

And personally, I think it is more interesting to fit the "standard monsters" into a setting in realistic and interesting ways, instead of requiring one or two books that only feature monsters. That's certainly the approach I'm trying with Urbis... ;)

Hi Nightfall mate! :)

Btw Krusty mate, I'm sure most if not all of your 25 submissions will get it.

Last time I managed to get 50% of my ideas chosen; this time I hope to do slightly better (Touch wood I won't have the computer problems that plagued me leading up to the deadline for the CC2 submission date).

I went over things last night and found I had 35 monster ideas; I'll develop those further then probably weed out the five weakest.

After all, thanks to you, we now have Crown Nagas, Slacerian Dragons

I must say, when I read that the Slarecian Dragons had been incorporated into the Scarred Lands history (c/o the Divine & the Defeated) I felt like a proud father...and rightfully so. :)

and a couple others whose name elude me at present. :)

How could you forget the Iron Devil!?

Love the Iron Devil, even though its 'book' CR is way off - it's more like CR 13 than CR 10. I know this isn't Krusty's fault.

I have some suitable monsters, especially for the desert. I was thinking of submitting my Krangar also, but maybe you have them already detailed for the IH Craig?
