Creeping crud

Has anyone done a D&D writeup of the creeping crud, the classic Wizardry monster?

A web search shows the name used in other contexts that I wasn't familiar with. I wonder what the linguistic history is here.

Creeping crud, Crawling Chaos, they're pratically the same anyway. Just throw your players against Nyarlothotep. They won't be able to tell the difference.

Well, I know I use to hear it all the time in referance slang for a lower bowel diease, nuff said.

Wait...which one? "Creeping crud," "crawling chaos," or "bubbling ooze?" Cause really any of them could be a lower bowel dis--oh, never mind!

As far as I know the Creeping Crud was mentioned first in a Strategic Review article way, way back when. The article is in the first Best of Dragon volume. (Again from way, way back when.)

Also mentioned were weregamers and loathsome drolls.

My copy vanished a long, long time ago, so I can't be any more specific.
