Critical and Fumble System

Greetings one and all,

I've been toying with ideas for a more detailed critical hit system. I've been looking at AD&D 2e's old system from Combat and Tactics, as well as HackMaster's rather complex system. So far, all I have is ideas.

Anyone have a good system for critical hits and fumbles? I'd love to see them.

When I get to it I will bw using modified Rolemaster charts. One for each damage type, plus martial arts and so on. Roll a crit, Roll on the chart assess penalty. These range from instant kills on the high end to nothing on the low end (it looks worse than it actually is. Alot of the penalties involve bleeding and penalties to attack, ac, skills, etc, based on the injury).
