The Greatest Thieves in Lankhmar is a level 3 Dungeon Crawl Classics boxed set that sends characters into the hot cellars beneath Thieves’ House, across the sooty rooftops of the City of Sevenscore Thousand Smokes, and on to a mad dash through the palace of the Overlord. Featuring design leads Harley Stroh and Marc Bruner with cover art by Doug Kovacs, this boxed set comes with everything you need to run an epic adventure over several sessions, whether you run it as a tournament or as part of an ongoing campaign.

  • NOTE: At the Open Gaming Network, I interviewed Grimtooth of Trapsylvania
“A new updated edition of the Monsters! Monsters! RPG. And a new edition of the "Toughest Dungeon in the World" a solitaire adventure. Ken St. Andre ... has updated and created a new edition of Monsters! Monsters! that retains much of its original appeal and structure, but with all new art and new options like stunting and monster chaos factor. The new M! M! rules also lists 38 monster kindreds you can play, gives you their dice modifiers and now each monster has a special power unique to its kindred. Each monster is described in a separate section. Its also better organized and easier to use. (For example - now the monsters are separated into humanoid and non-humanoid types) There are two character sheets you can use along with specialized charts that allow you to roll up various types of Monsters based on many common frpg environments. "The Toughest Dungeon in the World" a solitaire adventure that was meant to be played with Monsters! Monsters! or Tunnels & Trolls. 40 years later, Ken has updated and enhanced this classic adventure and the Monsters! Monsters! rules. Artists Phil Longmeier and Steve Crompton have enhanced it with new illustrations and graphics more suitable for a monster-mash solo adventure. This new edition is at least 44 pages long and will keep any player busy for a lot of adventure in caverns and tunnels deep below Trollworld. The Lord of Shadows dwells in the depths - can you avoid his power or will you be corrupted by it? One other thing we should add is that you can play this solo with the Tunnels & Trolls rules or the Monsters! Monsters! rules, so you don't have to learn a whole new rpg to play.”

  • SYSTEM(S): Dungeons and Dragons B/X
  • PROJECT TYPE:
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: £25 for the PDF and print versions of the book
“A remaster of the D&D adventure Deep Carbon Observatory, now in A4 hardback. In fact in this 104 page book there are only 33 pages without some image or illustration! What is Deep Carbon Observatory? An adventure for Dungeons and Dragons with stats and play assumptions based around an Old-School mindset, with stats, challenges and treasure based around the LotFP and BX Rulesets. DCO is an adventure for Dungeons and Dragons that should work with any Old School system. It would best suit a low fantasy world where magic is difficult and rare and monsters frightening and ‘other’. DCO is theoretically survivable for a level 1 party if its players are extremely cunning and crafty. For most systems a party level between 3-5 would give the best experience. High levels of magic will empower the party and potentially make the adventure a lot easier.”

As a Sparked by Resistance game, it has a mechanically simple core, while still scaffolding a story about change, identity, and resistance. Ascendancy is a game about identity and change. It's about how you grow as you are pushed, both by a harsh world, and by the people around you. Through the Title and Expectation mechanics, your identity, relationships to those around you, and the roles you're expected to be are created, and you're encouraged to find who you are through it all.”

  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $15 for the PDF
Hidden Oddities: A Guide to Survival (HOGS) is a collection of rule modifications, optional modules, player options, and monsters that alter the way that 5th edition plays to help facilitate a lower fantasy and/or an old school feeling without restricting the players' choices. Think of HOGS as a New Game + that provides additional tools to expand on often ignored stories. The rules are designed to expand - rather than limit - player choices, be easy to use, and enhance character immersion. Each table is different and some players/tables may not wish to explore topics or situations that these modules cover. So, the modules included have been split into distinct sections with guidelines on how to include as many or as little of the modules as wanted. Additionally, it is possible to allow players to choose for themselves which individual modules to use with their characters as some will want the chance of losing a limb, becoming diseased, starving, and/or any other unfortunate side effects of adventuring, and other players won’t. At the end of the day, its a game shared between friends and should be tailored to fit the spirit and mood of your table. Other than the rule changes and modules, there are a large number of new character options that use one or more of the modules as part of their core feature. Examples of these are the College of Glyphweaver bards, Warlock Patron of the Great Hunger, Wizard Tradition of the Lost, and more. Each class in standard 5e play is getting a thematic archetype including the Witch from Hidden Oddities: A Witch's Primer. There are also additional spells, backgrounds, equipment, and feats for players and GMs alike to peruse.”

Are people still backing Kickstarters in the current environment? I’m fortunate enough to be in an area where I still have a job, but I’m still not backing anything at the moment due to the massive uncertainty the whole world will be dealing with over the next 12 months or more.

Anecdotally, my job ("not essential," as they say) is on hold for who knows how long, so I've been curtailing my Kickstarter habit significantly; I imagine many others in my position are doing the same. I'm only backing the Castles & Crusades one for now.

Not that I’m aware. Other than a few odd monsters, any setting books from 2e to DCC can be lifted. Even compare the 2e stats for things for those and should be a fun 5e setting/adventure.

Yeah. I picked up several old Lankhmar adventures a few years ago. Haven't had a chance to try to use them in 5e yet. Maybe soon?

Thanks for the info.
