Crown of the Kobold King Cover--What do you guys/gals think?

That is the best presentation of a Kobold I have ever seen!!

I've loved Kobolds ever since I played Target the First, Kobold King of Faerun, way back in the days of 2E. BTW, its pronounced Tar Jay, not Target.

I look forward to buying this. It will be awhile, since I just placed a $100+ order with you guys week before last. So hopefully next month.

J,

I'd look at either adding a more pronounced drop shadow underneath Dungeon Mastery or adjust the logo so that it is not fighting with that art background. It looks ok, but could improve with a stronger seperation in color. Help the product line name standout.

Maybe drop a clipping path on the lead Kobold and bring him breaking out of the border abit, more menacing looking. (yes yes, more design work. :P)

Like someone else suggested, add the level range on the cover. Easily identifiable(sp), and helps draw attention to your customers.

The corner bars/slots where you've dropped your cover copy, are you sold on those? I don't know that you have to have something so "edgy" to appear on your cover. Even solid bars/boxes work on your cover. Moreso when you have dynamic covers like I suspect you will in this series. As most of us do... look and see what other designers are doing in your particular industry. Take that and pump it up a notch. Right? Make it pretty. :D
Thats a photoshop action, right?

About the only nitpick I have with it is that the 'of' in the title Crown of the Kobold King looks a lot more like an 'or'. Other than that i think it is a great cover!

Great picture. I do have a couple of suggestions:

- The skulls he is using for headwear: what *are* them from? He is using the eye socket of one for a monocle, but it's even smaller than his own head. Is it a gnome skull (but gnomes don't have those teeth)? And the one on top of his head: at first it seems like a kobold skull, but there are much more hornlets in it, and the teeth are nowhere like the teeth of the kobold wearing it.

- I'd stretch the title "Crown of the Kobold King" vertically to make it easier to read, or else change the font a bit. As it is it's a bit hard to make out the words.

Other than that, very nice picture indeed!
