Why was a thread about D&D moved? Cthulu was only the monster, D&D was the game.
If it's about Cthulhu, it goes here.

edit: Heh. BTW, if it wasn't about Cthulhu, a thread of this sort ought to be in Rules and not in GD, you know.

Does anyone know how much damage per attack he does?

In the original CoC, there was no contest. It wasn't "can we beat him?" It was "how many can he eat before we escape?"

Big C. swallowed 1d4 people per round. No save, 100% chance of doing so.

His sight generated 1d10/1d100 (save/no save) insanity points just seeing him, so if you didn't have a high SAN, or if you failed the roll, you were screwed. Remember, 20% Sanity loss, and you were gibbering on the floor - long enough for you to be the next meal.

If they can recapture that, then I'm happy.

It's a "good thing" that the only way he can affect Earth at pesent is sending Nyarlathotep the Mask of Madness there, rather than going in person.
Azathoth "sends" Nyarlathotep? Gee, let me think - Azathoth has all the brainpower of an amoeba, while Nyarly is ostensibly the most intelligent being in the multiverse. Azy's nominal position as ruler of the Outer Gods aside, who's really calling the shots here? ;)

- Sir Bob.

Cthulhu no longer automatically swallows 1d4 PCs/round; now he generally swallows 6 PCs/round. Against almost all PCs, he misses his tentacle hit only on a natural 1, and fails his swallow attempt only on a natural 1. Nummy adventurers!

That said, this would be a pretty fun GoD, wouldn't it? Short, I'm guessing, but fun.

Elminster would likely be falling to the ground worshipping him, while he triggers an Elminster's Evasion, because old El knows better. :D

Probably true, but after the ELH, he'll be more buffed up, so we'll see. :)
