Curing shrinken limbs?

My players drank some magical thalidomide, which caused their arms to shrink to halfling size (they're humans).

What magic cures this? I hope there is some low-level spell that can fix this? Renegeration doesn't seem logical... The limbs are "healthy", they are just tiny.

So far as I know, RAW doesn't address shrunken body parts. So since it's a non-RAW condition, just make a non-RAW fix. What exactly was the nature of this potion: transmutative, necromantic, etc?

Break enchantment specifically fixes transmutations and curses, so that might be a way to go since the potion was magical; heck remove curse might be applicable if the potion was low enough level. Restoration or more powerful heals also seem fine to me, possibly even remove disease if the thing can be considered to be some sort of magical illness. There's also limited wish (or wish or miracle, depending upon the level effect) of course

If all else fails, just throw them on the Rack and stretch them out. ;)

Why are you usking us? You're the DM, you introduced it into your game, right?

P.S.: What kind of game setting is this, anyway? I sure hope it's not one of the typical fantasy settings...

Was there some kind of time travel involved?

I didn't find anything in the board rules forbidding me to ask this kind of question. I'm sorry. I asked this question because I wanted advice. Sometimes when you're a DM, advice is much appreciated.

What does it matter what setting is this? I can tell you that it's a very typical setting. I don't see the relevancy of your question.

No, there was no time travel involved. I don't see the relevancy of this question either.

Hmm...

It just so happens that I have a level 10 Wizard with 13 ranks in Alchemy who would love to help you with a solution to your issue. Feel free to use him as an NPC and a quest fairy. His name is Mordrid, he's Human, he's 14yo, and he's Chaotic Evil. He can usually be found in a bazaar plying his wares. He has two zombies in frilly aprons going around his tent handling minor chores, and three more stand guard at various points.

When presented with the request, his response might go something like this:

[He laughs wildly.]
"Oh, that's good... Tell me how that happened, please..."
[He laughs more at the story.]
"Look, I want you to have that fixed as much as I'm sure you do..." [He gets a manipulative, serious, and condescending look on his face.] "...but I want grave lichen more." [He begins shuffling around tent.] "You'll discover that it is most easily found in the local crypts in all the cracks and crevices between the bricks of the mausoleums. I've gotten old enough that my hands are too big to collect it myself, and I would usually send some hapless child to do it for me in exchange for a short-term delerium potion..." [He grins deviously.] "...but that just gets messy when parents get involved later, and the tummy aches of which they sometimes complain are akin to having too much candy. You provide a happy solution for all of us then, hm?" [He raises an eyebrow and waits patiently for your response.]

If any haggling is done, he's flexible. If you need stats for him, pm me, and I'll get you a copy of his character sheet so you have a ready npc at any given time.

What Jhaelen was getting at is that you used some "DM magic" to shrink their limbs (since there arn't any spells that actually do this), so you can use "DM magic" to make them back to normal. How difficult you want them to get access to this magic is up to you.

Otherwise the spells listed above could work, as long as the PCs are aware of that as well as higher level spells such as Heal. Sounds like the makings of a good side quest.

Well I didn't mean to sound rude but it didn't seem to be a question that could be answered by anyone but yourself. The obvious answer is that nothing currently existing in the game can cure the effect since nothing currently in the game can actually produce this effect.

Your question was 'what kind of magic could cure the effects of 'magical thalidomide'.'

I have never read of such a thing, so it's either something from a source I do not recognize or you invented it. How should anyone be able to answer your question without knowing the source or reading your mind?

Since in the real world thalidomide was developed in the late 1950s, I asked if there was time travel involved. Apparently 'magical thalidomide' works differently than the 'real-world thalidomide', since the real-world version doesn't do anything like the effect you described to someone drinking it.

So you'd first have to tell us how it works. And I suspect that in telling us you'd answer your own question.

See, I have a question in return: "My players' pcs ate ettin-flesh and now they've grown a second head. What are the effects of this and is there any way to get rid of it?"
