Curse of House Thimbrall (orsal judging)

"Uh-oh", thought Boog as he watched the emotions play over the rogue's face. As he heard Fredlar denounce his new "friends", Boog sighed to himself, "I knew something like this would happen."

[sblock]If Fredlar is within range (25 feet), Boog will manifest Psionic Charm on him. If not, Boog will give chase with the intent of closing to within that range, for as long as it makes sense to do so.[/sblock]"Deal with him now, talk later", he said to Levin as he sprang into action.

As Fredlar starts to run away, Boog stares at him commandingly, and the look on Fredlar's face changes from terror to friendly. "Hey there," he says, "Sorry 'bout the thing with me trying to run away. I don't know what got into me."

Kamdar looks appalled, looks at Boog, then looks back at Fredlar. Then, he motions for everyone to surround Fredlar.

Boog recalled an incident from when he had been passing through a small village on the way to Orussus, about a month or so ago. A small child had been lost, then, after the entire town (and Boog) had been mustered to find the tot, he'd been found playing inside a large haystack. The boy's parents had the most distinct mixture of anger that the child had caused so much trouble, and joyous relief that their little one was alive and well. Boog knew he wasn't much of an actor, but that was the mixture of emotions that he tried to evoke when he confronted Fredlar.

"Here, here, now, are you all right?" Without waiting for a reply, he continued. "You don't want to go wandering off at this time of night. Only the gods know what you'll run into away from camp...all sorts of wild creatures live out here. And look how you're riled up the others!" Lowering his voice to press the point home, he continued: "You know, I'd bet a couple of them aren't sure if they can trust you, after that little ambush thing and all that. If I were you, I'd just sit around the fire and try to make a friend or two, if you could. Why don't you try to do that, and I'll try to calm them down. I'll be along shortly."

Boog hoped that would do the trick for now. He was running out of mental power, and couldn't keep doing this all night. Now that they knew what Fredlar really thought of them, perhaps they'd take of the matter properly.

Ridik stands up and walk up to the group as he sees Fedlar coming back. Before he arrive in earshot, Ridik asks to no one in partoculary "What kind of arcane can do such dramatic change in his behavior? I'm curious to know."

Levin, Human PsyWarrior 1

Levin walks over to Boog. "Boog, I need to talk to you privately for a minute about these past few hours."
If Boog will talk to Levin in private
[SBLOCK]"Boog, I know enough to know you charmed that guy. We don't have the time to worry about charming him every few hours. Do you have any more *ahem* permanent method of dealing with this guy. If you don't, someone will have to fight him in the night when it wears off.[/SBLOCK]

Boog was quite relieved that someone seemed to be taking the Fredlar matter seriously. He whispered a conversation with Levin.

[sblock]"You mean with my powers? No, sad to say, I'm not that good yet. And I won't be able to keep it up through the night at any rate. We've got about another hour before the charm wears off again, so we need to figure out what we're going to do about it.

I don't think we need to worry about him attacking us, we'd make short work of him if he did. If I thought we could trust him to not run off to Xyran and tell everything that he knows, I'd as soon just send him off, even if it took a bribe to assure his silence. I suppose we could tie him up or something while he's still charmed, you know, 'for his own protection'. Or we could permanently silence him, but I'd rather not do something like that unless it was truly necessary.

Got any ideas?"

Jann Hurst Half-Elf Sorceror1

Jann will join in the conversation as well. [sblock]"I would suggest that we tie him up, if anyone has some rope. Since he seems to regard Boog as his friend, perhaps Boog you tell him, as he said, that it is for his own protection- or something that he will believe. Then, after the charm has worn off, perhaps whoever is on watch can speak with him, and attempt to convince him that going to Xyran is not the best course of action. If he can be truly convinced, and we all agree that he is convinced, we can let him go. If not... we'll decide that in the morning. I would prefer to simply take him with us, binding him in a way such that he can still walk, and turning him in to the constabulary of the nearest town for attempting to rob us, or something. Good plan?"[/sblock]

Well, there was no guarantee that it would work, but the simple fact that they now had a plan gave Boog all the confidence he needed. "Well, then, that might work", he agreed. "I think it would work best if we all strolled over to him at once, and you all tried to look frightened enough of him to be dangerous to him. Shall we?", he asked as he turned to advance on Fredlar as he sat nervously by the fire.

(Assuming you fill everyone else in on this plan...)
[sblock]"Um, who has rope?"[/sblock]
