The year is given as 735 of the Barovian calendar. According to teh interwebs, the Grand Conjunction occurred in 740.
The adventure is a retelling of the original Ravenloft and not a reboot of the campaign setting. There's no mention of the Domains of Dread or any other Dreadlords at all (well, none that I could find, but I haven't scoured the book carefully) and no details about where Barovia is in the multiverse. Planar travel fails, except to the border ethereal and to pocket dimensions. However, it is part of the multiverse, and travellers from other D&D worlds and planes are part of the adventure in several places. There's also some details given about the Dark Powers themselves although I haven't really read that chapter yet, just kind of flipped through it.
