Custserv response on errata'd polymorph

Yeah- what Shilsen said. Pretty safe in MOST cases that when Custserv gives a ruling the opposite is true.
But you can't really rely on that. Sometimes you get two emails back from them, one says yes, one says no. :D

In which case you just need to look for the third option that you hadn't considered before.

And that's the rule i've used, and will continue to use... base hitpoints (& HD) stay the same, but you modify current total depending on a CON change.

The funny thing is that I asked Darrin this same question back in October ...

Subject : RE: Errata: PHB pg 263: Polymorph

I know that this is one thing that R&D is planning to deal with in the form of
future online support. Polymorphing and shape changing have created a number of
new confusions. For now, I don't have the official answer, but until errata is
released, I would side with camp 1.

He didn't know the answer then. He doesn't know it now. His definition of hit points *DOES NOT* match the defintion given in the PHB. The PHB considers hit points to be the total of bonus hit points and rolled hit points, not just rolled hit points.

This would be like going to an attaorney for advice on your first amendment rights (in the US) and having the attorney tell you that the first amendment grants you freedom to peach. And freedom to apricot. If the guy doesn't know the rules, his answers regarding the rules are useless.

I think you're being too hard on him from the quote you gave of a reply he made back in October. The reply in fact doesn't give an answer - just to wait for errata.

However, I do agree that, to send me a message contradicting the errata that just came out, does boggle me.
