Why, er, yes. That's what I said. Really. No Transformations here (kicks thread title back into shape). (Casts "Transmute Thread Title")

See? No problem. :)

Shapechange. You literally don't need to prepare any other spells, since many forms can give those to you anyway.

For its level Alter Self is a real winner. With winged forms available, it gives flight that lasts longer. Other forms give aquatic movement and water breathing, natural armor bonuses, size/reach advantages.

Yea but a humanoid can only turn into a humanoid.
List of Alter Self forms if anyone is interested LINK.

In my opinion Rope Trick for a 2nd level spell is very useful, it even shields from scrying spells only the plane spanning scrying spells can find you in there.

Most PC races are limited to Humanoid forms with Alter Self. Half Dragons, on the other hand, have the "Dragon" as their racial type, which opens up some interesting possibilities.

Tieflings are Outsiders, and that opens up a huge alternate list. :)

So lets hipoteticly say a Warforged (Construct (living construct)) can Alter Self into another construct like...Force Golem (MM5)?
