D&D 3.5 Homebrew: Paths of Legend Vol 1: Tragedy at Silvergard

There is currently only one recognized Knighthood in the world, the Eldritch Knights. Originating in the Wizard ruled nation to the south, the majority of the Knights chose to support a slave uprising in that nation seven years before the start of the Shadow War instead of continuing their allegiance to the Wizard Circles. As a result, when the uprising was put down, the Eldritch Knights tactically retreated across the sea to establish themselves in the northern nation of Turen. To be recognized as a full knight, one must prove oneself in arms as well as magic, though the knights have a multitude of rank and file warriors who aspire to the ideals espoused by the knighthood. The Knighthood was instrumental in leading the human and elven armies to victory during the Shadow War and are seen as heroes among the commonfolk.

The ideals of chivalry, valor, and upholding the good of the common folk are also widely held ideals in Azgund, though the preferred fighting style there leans more toward dueling and finesse.

Sorry. I was just trying to give you a little world detail to fit your character into. If you want to aspire to the status of Knight, the Eldritch Knights are the way to go. If instead you want to uphold the chivalric ideal, an Azgundi fighter or an individual Paladin would be a better idea.

that poses a problem... Can't be SIR Jonathon the knight and all proud of it, but he's not a mage-type.

I'll come up with something else

It would, however...

Please consider the following to be OOC information that the typical PC would not have access to.

The cosmology of this world is different. There are no outer planes and thus any outsiders not native to the material plane or an inner plane effectively don't exist. However, such creatures are still summoned to the material plane by powerful spellcasters. They begin their existence at the moment of their summoning and cease to be once the summoning effect ends. Any outsider character would thus need a background explanation as to how they've been brought into the world and able to stay.

Hmmm... Perhaps a "refugee" from another world? Or simply a child born with a great gift?

I can think of many things, with time. If you have a good angle, then I'd be happy to hear it. :)

Thanks.

I'd prefer to avoid "other world" scenarios. During the recent Shadow War, several such beings were summoned during the major battles. One possibility is that some vestige of the magical energies remains at the battle site, resulting in the emergence of a diminished (as in, level 1) creature that has no memory of who or even what it is.

A child born with "gifts" would more likely be a half-celestial or half-fiend, or some other templated individual.

Let me know what type of creature you were thinking of specifically so I can work up the level progression, or revise the existing one in Savage Species (that would be preferable).

An addendum to the Knighthood topic above: I neglected to mention the following...

The Shadow Knights

A group of paladin/rogues who stalk evil in their hiding places among normal society. They are followers of The Shadow Knight and may multi-class freely between paladin and rogue.

Torillan, I have a sugestion to make ^^ Would you like our characters to be brothers? or old friends or something like that? I think that kind of relation could bring interesting rol playing situations, but its just a sugestion.

PS: sorry for my spelling =P

Attached prospective players will find a setting bible to help them learn more about the world this game is set in and to facillitate integrating your character into the world. Apologies for the length. The document is divided into two parts. The first deals with what every commoner knows about their world. PCs with ranks in any knowledge skill will be able to gain access to more detailed information. The second discusses how the various PC classes fit into the world and suggests possible backgrounds for each. A note on clerics: the provided examples of philosophies are not the only possible options. Players wishing to play a cleric should talk to me about other possiblities.
