Do you want us to submit general aproximation or full character sheets? I think a background, a general idea about the abilities feats and skills would do, what do you think?

I'm interested in joining a PbP game finally, and you seem to have a neat start there crazypixie!

I've only kinda-sorta participated in some PBEM and PbP games before, briefly, but I'm interested in trying another (the last few I PBEMs I joined were apparently with flaky GMs - they didn't last long :( ). But I am at least moderately familiar with the whole thing.

I'm thinking I'll throw in a token Human PC for the group :heh: , though I prefer silly or unusual character races (Gnomes forever!). :p I figure a Human Conjurer/Rogue/Arcane Trickster (eventually) may be suitable to fill some gaps. That or just a straight Conjurer...... I don't find most of the other specialists to get much love in UA, not worth the bother for what they give up (I like illusionists and transmuters and all, but UA doesn't give them much real flexibility or effectiveness for all the feats and spells they give up).

Aside: I always love psionic PCs, but you haven't mentioned what the caveat or restriction or iffyness of them is in your game. Explanation please?

HMm.. Sir Jonathon doesn't seem a match, but those Shadow Knights remind me of...

[sblock=William the Grey]
Sir William Windwalker
Human Male Cleric4/Paladin3/Gray Guard10/Rogue1/Shadowdancer2

Brief Background
Sir William Windwalker is a special knight, trained in the ways of the shadow. The Knights of Shadow are an order of holy men who dedicate their lives to keeping Good people as seperated from the true darkness of the world as possible. They do this by placing their own souls and bodies between the innocents and the evil. As the Shadow stands between light and darkness, so do the Knights of Shadow.

William started out as a normal paladin, dedicating his life to the eradication of "Evil" after witnessing many atrocities of war. He combined his natural Divine talents with his Dedication to become a powerful foe to the enemy... Until he was captured, imprisoned, and slated to be sacrificed to fuel their dark magics. While waiting helplessly for his end, William befriended an elderly gentleman also locked away. Unknown to him, he had just been enlisted in the secretive Knights of Shadow, and this was his initiation.

With the aid of the old man, he was able to escape, and soon became a full-fledged Shadow Knight.

Personality
Sir Windwalker (William to his peers) is steadfastly dedicated to Good, whether it be through Acts of kindness, Eradication of Evil, or whatever. He is a firm believer in 'doing the right thing', even when it's not always the smart thing. (Though that does not, as some have wrongly guessed, stem from a lack of intelligence, merely a belief that if it's the right thing to do, it's probably worth it).

William is not your standard 'stick up the rear' Holy Warrior, and is dedicated to the Spirit of law and Goodness rather than the specific innuendo's of it. As a Shadow Knight, he believes in the greater good, though not to the point of overwriting individual freedoms. There is a very fine line that must be walked between doing what you think is right for everyone, and taking away their freedom to decide that themselves.

The Knights of Shadow believe that by placing themselves closer to the darkness, they keep everyone else safer, and they do the things that the really good people shouldn't have to. Sometimes, if the knight is not pure enough, this can lead to a degradation of character, and some knights have been known to cross too far into the shadows, loosing themselves. It's tough to maintain your righteousness when you're constantly in contact with such vileness, but somehow William has managed to do so... Thus far.

Now of course, that was the ORIGINAL design, I'd have to scale him down to lvl 1, and adjust the background to compensate, but that gives you an idea of what I'm going for...
And btw, COOL on the ShadowKnights, I've been wanting to play this guy for a while (He's been sitting here in my files allready made for a few months).

How's this one sound? Note that the Grey Guard could be edited out if you don't like the prestige class. I originally had the character as just cleric/Pal/Rogue/Shadowdancer, but then when the book came out, my friends pointed out the GreyGuard and I was like "WOOT! Finally I can play a Paladin!"

(BTW, if anything I suggest doesn't fit, feel free to tell me, cuz I've got a dozen character concepts I've been wanting to try, allready written up)

I'd prefer to avoid "other world" scenarios. During the recent Shadow War, several such beings were summoned during the major battles. One possibility is that some vestige of the magical energies remains at the battle site, resulting in the emergence of a diminished (as in, level 1) creature that has no memory of who or even what it is.

A child born with "gifts" would more likely be a half-celestial or half-fiend, or some other templated individual.

Let me know what type of creature you were thinking of specifically so I can work up the level progression, or revise the existing one in Savage Species (that would be preferable).

Well... At early levels, the character would in essence *be* a half-celestial, its powers would be only a fraction of "the real thing", so to speak. It would take many levels to build up to that.

Voda Vosa: I think we're nearing the point of full character submissions, so go ahead and send the full monty.

Arkhandus: As mentioned in the setting bible file, specialists are fairly exclusive to Thay. Also, all the UA variants are "mandatory" unless the character's mentor was secretly one of the old traditionals. There will be pressure from the character's Thayvia superiors to become a Red Wizard, but as long as you're out of the country that can be avoided. As for the Arcane Tricksters, on this world they were originally organized in Thay as something of a secret society of younger wizards fed up with the current power structure. Several circles, notably the Abjuration and Illusion Circles infiltrated the Tricksters and now play a game of information and counter-information with no one trusting anyone else. Some of the Tricksters left Thay and set up shop in Azgund in order to distance themselves from the Circles' influence.

Jemal: The concept sounds good. Have to say no to the greyguard (not even sure what that is...and no, I don't want to know ;) ). Paladins who are Shadow Knights may multi-class freely as rogues and shadowdancers, so the concept should work out decently. The Shadow Knights are based out of the nation of Azgund, in the county of Guare and have close ties to the followers of the Silver Shadow, advocate of choice and consequence.

Tric: The main issue here is that in this world outsiders are not born they're spontaneously generated via magic. A half-whatever character would be born and thus be limited to being a half-whatever. A full-whatever still works, it would just need to have a reason for being.

Arkhandus: I neglected to answer your psionics quandry. The following should be considered OOC information that your PCs would not know.

Psionics doesn't exist per se on the world, but it's about to. There is a "psionic key" hidden somewhere in the world. When the Shadow Barrier weakened during the Shadow War, psionic energy began to leak through, resulting in a very few rare individuals spontaneously "becoming" psionic. However, these individuals and those around have no idea what it is precisely that they're doing and have little control over it. In game terms, this means that all psionic characters are wilders for the time being, and none of the psionic races are present in the world, with the exception of one or two Elan who believe they are normal humans, though their behavior is a bit off and they have no memories outside of their current human existence.

Torillan, I have a sugestion to make ^^ Would you like our characters to be brothers? or old friends or something like that? I think that kind of relation could bring interesting rol playing situations, but its just a sugestion.

I like it! Yes, if you have some ideas about background, let me know. I have a basic concept in mind, but I'm open to anything to make him more interesting. Good idea!
