D&D 3.5 Homebrew: Paths of Legend Vol 1: Tragedy at Silvergard

Arkhandus: Azgundi names are kind of a European hodge-podge. Go with what sounds good to you. ;) As for last names, generally speaking Azgundi don't use them, though they are quite fond of titles, as in the local blacksmith would introduce himself as Vaedan the Smith. Lords and Ladies are addressed as Lord/Lady (first name) de (name of the land they are lord/lady of) such as Lady Dawn de Guare. There are more than two dozen different baronies and counties in Azgund, most of them not yet named, so feel free to name the character's home community if you need to for his background.

Voda Vosa: I have not looked at your character yet, I will do that sometime tomorrow and get back to you.

Tric: I have a 3.5 revision for the Ghaele monster class from the Savage Species version that I will post here tomorrow. Technically, Ghaele are Eladrin, not Angels, but that only means that any that were summoned during the Shadow War were more likely to be summoned by elves than any of the other factions involved. What background angle did you want to go with?

I think Mountain dwarves could be, because the went out to the world just to look for his brother. And I think beenig insular could make our roll more interesting. But its up to Torllan

I think Mountain Dwarves is a good idea. I'd rather play Guzdum (keeping w/ the theme!) as somewhat "non-worldly". I hope to have my character up by tomorrow (monday).

Very cool.

I was reading the setting bible, and a spontaneous idea struck me.

Basically, during the war, an elven wizard was leaving the western continent, heading for Azgund and hoping to be of use there against the many evils. However, a storm caught the vessel, damaging it severly. Within several hours it sunk, and the wizard was one of few survivors. He eventually came upon a deserted island far from civilization. Walking around, the wizard found himself alone for the first time in his life. Without any knowledge of where he would end up, his teleportation magic was useless.

Months passed and he slowly became depressed and hopeless. One night, waking up uncomfortable and uneasy, he became striken with a wild idea. He still had his spellbook with him (it had a watertight casing), and he could actually summon a companion... He'd never done it before though, and only had a few pages to work from. However, he was a gifted wizard and once he set himself to a task he worked long and hard. Eventually, it would seem he succeeded, as his makeshift incantation summoned an angelic child. It was an otherworldly moment for him, but he quickly found himself busy with caring for the girl. He liked the change, at first.

Eventually a small vessel passed the island and the wizard cast a simple spell to get its attention. Weeks later he finally came ashore on the eastern continent. The girl could already read by herself, it appeared to be growing quickly. That was also a problem, he simply couldn't keep up with her. As an elf, he couldn't fathom the rapid changes in the little woman, who learned new things every day. As he was going to war, he left the child in the care of a farmer who promised to care for her until the wizard returned, accepting ten gold coins as payment. However, the wizard never returned.

Phew, that was more than I'd counted on writing :D Of course, the exact age of the character will depend on when the shadow war took place. Was it 5 years before the adventure? If so, she was probably 13 when she was summoned.

Arkhandus: Before I look at Alaric, please note that the point buy set for the game is 32.

Tric: The present date is 11 years after the start of the Shadow War. Since the character is an Outsider, we can fudge her aging quite a bit, allowing her to mature to adulthood in just 10 years or so.

All: Don't worry so much about "traditional party roles" at this point. Also, a note for human characters, Humans get Common and the language of their nation of origin as bonus languages. Thus a human born in Azgund would speak Common and Azgundi. And, as a minor house rule, Commoners don't speak Common. Common is a trade language used by merchants, adventurers, and other travelers. The average farmer or city guard speaks only their native language.

I'm sorry, I get the reason and I'm all for it.. Makes perfect sense... But when I read this:
Commoners don't speak Common
I just burst out laughing. Sorry, I've been working 10-12 hours shifts non-stop for the last like 20-30 days, and I'm sick. My brain's not working right. I just found that funny.

I'll stop rambling now.

OH also, I forgot, did you want us to post character specifics, or was my example + background good enough?

I'm curious about what exactly you're allowing from Libris Mortis? If I wanted to run a Vampire Spawn from level 1 that would be acceptable?
