D&D 3.5 Homebrew: Paths of Legend Vol 1: Tragedy at Silvergard

Ethandrew: Yes, however, a vampire spawn in particular would face some pretty horrific problems in terms of ability to actually adventure with their sunlight issues and other vulnerabilities. You may want to go with one of the other options from Libris Mortis. Also consider any undead character's capacity to mix with other characters in the group. If the character is struggling against the horrors of being undead and is therefore not evil, it would go a long way toward mitigating any animosity from other characters. Specifically, there's a paladin in the works, as well as a Ghaele Eladrin, both of whom would likely have serious issues with any sort of evil character, undead or otherwise.

Hmmm, duely noted! I will see what I can come up with. I've been wanting to play some sort of vampire for a while, and if I can work out a way to keep him out of harm from the sun, peachy. Otherwise I will see what other options are calling out to me.

Ethandrew: You may want to consider the half-vampire template from Libris Mortis. I can give you a template class (only two-levels) for it and it gives you a couple of the perks and a lot of the flavor, without most of the drawbacks.

Tric: I will have the ghaele monster class revision posted here sometime tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

All: I'd like to start reviewing characters over the coming week so we can get started the week after that.

Voda Vosa: Your character looks good except: You only spent 69 gp. Average starting gold for a fighter is 150. I would recommend a ranged weapon of some sort and some basic adventuring gear. Also, are you sure about your skill point placement? Craft (Alchemy) is useless to a fighter and will continue to be unless you take a level in a spellcasting class. Also, while Craft (Carpentry) is certainly a valid choice for characterization purposes, it seems a little odd for a dwarf, especially a mountain dwarf.

Please send an updated version when you get a chance.

Well then I redistribute some skill points, but i left 2 in carpentry, (I think its a Need to have skills in this craft, many items have wood) I bought a crosbow and some regular stuff

What page is that on in LM? I think I'm just not seeing it for some odd reason. That sounds right up my alley.

Do you still need a player? I'd like to enter an elf ranger (aiming for horizon walker, if that PrC is ok) focused on ranged combat. I know it is a bit overused, but I like to give it a try.

Really. Big. Umbrella.

Seriously, though, onto the meat of the post:
I'm workin on the character, not sure when I'll be able to post it, though. Did you have a deadline set?
K, here's the Starter. As you can see, he starts off with Paladin before proceeding on to Cleric and then eventually Rogue/Shadowdancer. The 'knight' part then won't be coming for a while yet, as we're starting 1st level. I just hope he lives to see it. ;)
ALSO, I need some Deity suggestions for this campaign.. Anything good for a Paladin that includes War Domain is fine by me.

Background(Needs Editing)
Sir William Windwalker is a special knight, trained in the ways of the shadow. The Knights of Shadow are an order of holy men who dedicate their lives to keeping Good people as seperated from the true darkness of the world as possible. They do this by placing their own souls and bodies between the innocents and the evil. As the Shadow stands between light and darkness, so do the Knights of Shadow.

William started out as a normal paladin, dedicating his life to the eradication of "Evil" after witnessing many atrocities of war. He combined his natural Divine talents with his Dedication to become a powerful foe to the enemy... Until he was captured, imprisoned, and slated to be sacrificed to fuel their dark magics. While waiting helplessly for his end, William befriended an elderly gentleman also locked away. Unknown to him, he had just been enlisted in the secretive Knights of Shadow, and this was his initiation.

With the aid of the old man, he was able to escape, and soon became a full-fledged Shadow Knight.

Personality
Sir Windwalker (William to his peers) is steadfastly dedicated to Good, whether it be through Acts of kindness, Eradication of Evil, or whatever. He is a firm believer in 'doing the right thing', even when it's not always the smart thing. (Though that does not, as some have wrongly guessed, stem from a lack of intelligence, merely a belief that if it's the right thing to do, it's probably worth it).

William is not your standard 'stick up the rear' Holy Warrior, and is dedicated to the Spirit of law and Goodness rather than the specific innuendo's of it. As a Shadow Knight, he believes in the greater good, though not to the point of overwriting individual freedoms. There is a very fine line that must be walked between doing what you think is right for everyone, and taking away their freedom to decide that themselves.

The Knights of Shadow believe that by placing themselves closer to the darkness, they keep everyone else safer, and they do the things that the really good people shouldn't have to. Sometimes, if the knight is not pure enough, this can lead to a degradation of character, and some knights have been known to cross too far into the shadows, loosing themselves. It's tough to maintain your righteousness when you're constantly in contact with such vileness, but somehow William has managed to do so... Thus far.
