D&D 4th Edition

Keeping in mind that, in general, the (4th Edition) speculation is just guessing and wishfull thinking and more.
I'd like to suggest that It may be that they are using the public to PLAY TEST the new "possible" 4th Edition.
Subtle changes to D20 have come about in the Modern D20 and other, newer D20 games and soon, some of us will be playtesting the new D20 Star Wars Sage Edition rules.
I think that maybe after a few more years of message board complaints, critiques, and house rule suggestion from the public/buyers/gammers etc., they may use that info to decide on the final rules for a true 4th Edition.

Just random thoughts. It's probably too plausible to be seriously considered. :)

Arise, o thread, from the moldy hollows from which you came! Arise!

Now begone back to hallowed antiquity, and leave the realm of the living!

Debate as you will but bookmark this thread and let's visit this issue as it begins to unfold a year and a half from now... ;)

Well I didn't bookmark it, but since it's be resurrected ... care to elaborate on the 2006 release of D&D4e?

Seriously, now that 4e chatter has all but died down, this is the time for WotC to unleash the dogs of war!

:]

A reliable source tells me that WotC is giving serious consideration releasing AD&D as a "classic" product instead of a wholly new 4th edition.

Is your reliable source the gnome who lives under your bed? That's who gives me all my reliable info.

ROTF

I started reading this without looking at the dates. Took me a minute to figure out why people were predicting release in 2006 at Gen Con. :D

It does seem to be the season again. It's been a few months.

One thing about it thought, EVENTUALLY these threads have to be right.

A new Rules Cyclopedia edition would be nice!
AD&D would be cool too!

:D

I must be the only naive one here, cause I think D&D 4e will come out at GenCon 2010, with plenty of warning first.

Editions of D&D seem to have about a 10 year shelf-life as near as I can tell.

When they actually start working on it, it will probably take about two years, so I don't think we would see anything before '08-- and if they were working on it, we would probably know by now. Hobby companies are rotten at keeping secrets.
