D&D 5e "Avatar state"

First Post
I have an elemental wizard character (pulling heavily from EE, obviously), and I was wondering what an "Avatar state"-esque ability would look like. The best I could think up was some kind of magical version of the Barbarian's Rage ability, but that didn't seem quite right, either. I've found decent descriptions of individual bending types, but very little for the Avatar (most of what I have found involves the disappointment that is the 4 Element Monk). Has anybody come up with any ideas around this?

Maybe getting able to use Sorcery Points to power, twin, or buff up your spells? Depends on the table, if you don't have a Sorcerer (avoid stepping on his toes) or everyone is cool it could work. You could face exhaustion penalty or burn out spell slots to use them.

It probably is similar to the Barbarian Rage ability, but with increased caster level and spontaneous metamagic as buffs rather than increased STR and CON.

It's drawback appears to be that if you die, you can't be resurrected. Also it appears Ang loses control of his emotions in the state, though its not clear whether that's an artifact of the state or Ang's block that makes him unable to enter the state except when extremely emotional.

The Avatar doesn't translate well to an RPG, because it violates the fundamental rule of RPGs: "Thou Shalt Not Be Good At Everything" Stories revolving around chosen ones are awkward in an RPG setting, and Ang levels of power - particularly in Avatar form - are just not good for a table.

I was thinking this was going to be about laying on a table and having your mind be in another body elsewhere - like the Astral spell. Maybe a giant blue body.

Like D&D itself or Dream Park.
