D&D and RPG Play

I play D&D most of the time, but enjoy a variety of d20 games, as well as GURPS.

Favorite System

I've played a variety of systems over the years (BRP in its numerous incarnations, D&D, AD&D, Traveller [the original], Warhammer FRP [again, the original], ICE's system whatever that was called, etc.). I'd have to say the current D&D is probably my favorite, but only because they've mined all of the other systems for ideas and game mechanics, taken the best of them, and incorporated them into the 3.x rules (damage reduction from WFRP, skills from BRP, etc.).

Actually, come to think of it, some of the recent OGL standalone RPGs derived from D&D are my favorites, especially A Game of Thrones, which in my opinion is the ultimate evolution of the d20 system . Too bad we'll likely never see any followup products for it, sigh.

I still really like AD&D (1E) too, and if it were the only thing around I'd still be playing it. I played it from around 1980 to 2000 then switched to 3rd edition, skipping 2E entirely.

I fall under a different option. I would love to play other RPG's but D&D is the only option open to me.

I'm in the same boat. All of my friends want to play/run D&D, so D&D is what I play/run. It's been like this since 3.0 came out; I've played maybe a handful of sessions in other games/systems since then.

D&D (all editions, realms etc.) with house rules galore mixed in, is the only table top RPG I play.

I fall under a different option. I would love to play other RPG's but D&D is the only option open to me.

QFT, Iron Heroes is the only thing I can sell to my players, and that is still a bit too close to home for me

I Play DnD and other systems (Exalted,7th Sea, Shadowrun...)
I have no favorite systems, but I prefer some systems
for some kind of athmosphere.

7th Sea is cooler swshbucklung system than DnD.
I prefer Exalted as EPIC system.
Pokethulu is a much better "fun" rulesystem.

But DnD is a grat Hack and Slash and standard system.

I play several systems for different genres. My favorites are D&D 3.x for Fantasy/Medievel and Mutants and Masterminds for 4 color cheesy goodness. Although I do like BESM for 'mixed genre' games.

Realistically though, I'll play anything as long as I'm having fun with my friends. The system isn't as important as being able to hang out, eat pizza, drink beverages and beat up bad guys with the group.

OD&D(1974) is my favorite.

My personal faves are CoC (the BRP version), RM2, RQ2, and 1e AD&D.

I did play d20 once. It was a Thursday.
