That's something we need to work on when we address the various wording changes in the new ALPG.
Questions about rule changes (like #1) will likely not be part of the AMA, as the focus is changes to the program regarding the DMs Guild, home play, and adventure delivery. Questions like #1 will be addressed in the upcoming Admin posts. (We just asked the LCs/RCs to start helping us update the ALPG for season 4 and DM rewards was number one topic on the list).
@Wizards_DnD said:@Enrico_Palazzo_ That's a great question for tomorrow's AMA - Chris Lindsay will be on hand to tackle AL questions: https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/403anl/ama_with_wotc_10am_pst_15th_of_january/
I run conventions. Believe me when I say I know conventions won't pay. Most of them lose money as-is. Let me get with you privately about some options.

I dunno. Why not release it all at once? *shrugs*
Just go look at facebook. People are crazy up in there.
What's your confusion?
Sorry If a convention was losing money, then they wouldnt be coming back . Theyd go out of business.
Heh! Sorry, I should have been more clear. I apologize.
You seem to be saying that the AMA today won't cover AL stuff. The Official DnD twitter account says that it will. That's my confusion. I've misunderstood something somewhere?

Most conventions aren't businesses -- they're run by volunteers for the benefit of their communities. That's also why many conventions don't take specific steps to grow beyond what their organizers are comfortable with, because that's the level of financial and time support they can afford.
The goal is always to make profit however, unless of course the CON is set-up as a nonprofit (with the profit above running costs going to charity).
That's my neck of the woods! Though I have never been to a con.I run five conventions in WI and IL (which you are certainly welcome at, but if you don't come by we'll always cross paths at Gamehole). If I lost money on them, I wouldn't run them.
