First impression - seriously:

It is strange not to see a FEATHER FALL spell.

Heh. Feather Fall is a spell that didn't exist before AD&D, so I'm not surprised it's not in this Basic set either. In my recent ACKS game, the thief found a ring of Feather Fall. I told the player to look up the Feather Fall spell for it. "What Feather Fall spell?" Ohhhh...right.

Good point. I also noticed Read Magic was missing from the basic PDF. Wonder if that is just something that they will get into more detail about in the PHB.
