I've successfully shed my collector's mantle. :D Nowadays I restrict myself to items I think I'll use in my games.

Every now and then I go on a customer's quest looking for products fulfilling some specific desire. Right now this desire is an introductory game, so I'm considering Dragon Age.

Other things are impulse-like buys; things not really needed or destined to be used but, interesting enough.

I have a lot, and I buy pdfs regularly with a monthly budget but I'm hard pressed to find product lines I own completely except for some companies that only put out one product (The Argyle Lorebook by Silver Oak Studios comes to mind). I don't try that hard to complete entire product lines either though I have come close.

I have all the Oathbound books by Bastion Press.

I have all the Bastion Press Books except for the modules.

I have all but one of the goodman games 3e stuff that was available in pdf.

I believe I have all the EN World pdfs except for the 4e WotBS and the starship things.

I have all of the GURPS 3e/OWoD crossover books.

For D&D I do have a few complete lines.

I have all of the Jakandor (from 2e) books, which means all three of them.

I own all of the 1e hardbacks (finally got Wilderness Survival Guide on pdf before they stopped selling pdfs).

I think I have all the 1e and 2e Oriental Adventures stuff.

I mostly buy pdfs and super good deals.

I used to be a Completist ... But I got better.;)

Now, I'm just a casual buyer - I buy only the things I really want.

And I'm still not currently buying anything from WotC. But, if they start selling pdf's again, my casual buying would also extend to them again.

I'm a hardcore Greyhawk collector, a fairly omnivorous pre-1985 TSR and non-TSR/generic D&D collector, and a fairly dedicated non-D&D TSR collector too (again, ~1982 and back there). You can ogle my stuff here and here, if you're interested.

When it comes to D&D, and the WotC material in particular, I am highly selective. There are a lot of areas that just don't appeal to me (high level play, most adventures, many of the settings, etc.); I love the fresh blood provided by 3rd Party publishers, especially Malhavoc and Green Ronin, which tend to pique my interest more often.

There are some other games, though, where I am a near-completist and I do collect for a lot of different roleplaying lines (Ars Magica, NWoD, Paranoia, various Star Trek iterations, etc.), if that gets nearer to answering the question.
That describes me pretty well. I'm selective when it comes to D&D but I bought pretty much everything for oWoD Mage and continue to do so for Ars Magica (although I'm no longer playing it).
For most other rpgs I typically restrict myself to one or two books. Notable exceptions being Runequest, CoC, and Earthdawn.

I voted "Quasi-completist"- I currently own several of the old softcovers (like Eldritch Wizardry, Blackmoor, and Chainmail), most of 1-2Ed D&D RPG products from TSR, including modules; as well as most of WotC's 3Ed/3.5 Ed books and several derivative products from Green Ronin, Malhavoc, Paizo 2WS and other top 3PPs.

Of 4Ed, though, I started and stopped at owning the Core3.
