Long Live the d12
Long live the d12.
The d12 is like Rodney Dangerfield - it gets no respect. But no respect doesn't mean it should be removed.
And if you think about it mathematically for a second, there should only be 3 dice - d8, d10 and d12. You can get d3, d4 and d6 results from a d12!
d12 = d3 if [1,2,3,4]=1, [5,6,7,8]=2, [9,10,11,12]=3
d12 = d4 if [1,2,3]=1, [4,5,6]=2, [7,8,9]=3, [10,11,12]=4
d12 = d6 if [1,2]=1, [3,4]=2, [5,6]=3, [7,8]=4, [9,10]=5, [11,12]=6
Likewise, you can use a d8 to get d4 results. So of all the dice, the d3 should be removed immediately since it isn't even a real die!
And then we should remove the d4 because it can be derived from both the d8 and d12. (And it is pointy and hard to pick up besides).
And then the d6 can get derived from the d12 so it doesn't need to be there.
Think of how much more space we would have in the dice bags!
Long live the d12!!!!!
