D&D Essentials Live in Character Builder!

Guys, check out the races in Character Builder. Looks like the Essentials races are in there.

I know the classes aren't there. Haven't checked out any powers or feats yet.

You can now choose if you want your dwarf to be con/wis or con/str in the CB. Elf, eladrin, etc. also get a choice.

Odd stuff: Humans have to select the bonus at will, as Heroic Effort isn't in the CB yet, but the drop down is there to make the choice.

Small aside I noticed because I have a character this matters for: The update making Rapier a military weapon is in (mostly of interest to Rogues and small characters who want a one-handed melee weapon).

Humans have the "Human Power Selection" which right now is only the bonus at-will, but I'm assuming will change to Heroic Effort (or whatever it's called)

I closed it down and reopened and it asked to update!!!!

The lack of essentials in the Character Builder is really disappointing.

Eh. This was announced a while ago, and while it is disappointing, having all the stuff in the compendium will do for the time being.

I just hope they give an ETA on the CB update soon. The lead programmer has been posting on the WotC forums saying he's got news ready, but that he's waiting for permission to post it.

Paolo Marcucci (Software Development Manager for DDI) said on the WotC forums that he was going to try and bring people up to speed on when everything will be coming, and was planning to post once the update was complete. Today it sounded like he was still waiting final approval from above in order to share what he knows, and it didn't seem likely he would get that approval by the end of the week.

I don't know how much he'll actually have to say, nor does there seem any actual guarantee of when he will be able to say it, but it at least sounds like he is hoping to make an announcement by next week. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

Interesting, the magic item rarities are in the update. And almost everything is uncommon. And the CB does not allow you to buy uncommon items (the buy button is greyed out). Makes it a bit harder to create a character at higher than 1st level. You have (item worth=lvl-1) gp to purchase equipment, but you can't spend it on anything...
