I didn't know WizKids had these. Does anyone have any? Useful for D&D play?

The old Mageknight miniatures were larger than the D&D miniatures. I personally thought it made them more out of place. The bases were bigger. They were taller. Being made by the same company with a similar design as Heroclix I would suspect these will be like Mageknight.

To my recollection the regular-sized (not special large ones) Heroclix bases are about an inch and a half across, which means the figures for what would be medium-sized creatures are not suited for use with the usual 5' = 1" gridded map. They just won't fit, unless you re-base.

For larger monsters, OTOH, or if you're not using grids but instead zones or ranged bands, they'd probably be fine.

Aesthetically I'm not a fan of the Heroclix or Mage Knight bases themselves in another game, because of the dial and the stats and stuff printed on them. But YMMV.

I have a few things like this that get placed on a large base and now I have a Alpha Beast or something. They get used less though and often pinch-hit for other large animals like a rhino or even ankheg.

I have a few. They have been used. Poison Ivy just calls out to be used as a plant based NPC. Yes, the bases are a bit larger then the current 1"/25mm standard. So what? As long as the GM states, "this a a normal medium sized critter", it can work. Or get out a hex/square grid with 1.5" spaces. Fantasy Trip and Ogre maps are generally 1.5".
