First Post
Can you give us translations of the following words in whatever your first language is? (Assuming it isn't english?)

Dungeon, Dragon, Fighter, Wizard, Rogue, Cleric, Evil, Good, Combat, Sword.

If we can get a few responses on this one we can try some more. :)

Into Russian (not my native langauge, and some of these words have varying translations

Dungeon: Can't remember which word is used to translate 'D&D'. Translation of this is tricky--it's important to remember that in the D&D sense 'Dungeon' doesn't have it's standard meaning of 'prison', but rather it means an underground passage/complex.

Dragon: Drakon

Fighter: Boyets

Wizard: Volshebnik

Rogue: Moshenik (Thief is 'Vor')

Cleric: Sveshyannik (actually 'priest')

Evil: Zlo

Good: Dobro

Combat: Boi

Sword: Metch

And oddly enough, the OD&D I played had
Evil: Evil
Good: Good (Note Brass Dragons were chaotic good.)

But I'm slightly more of an OD&D purist than most. :D

Well, as has been said, it's not all that easy to translate the words as they sometimes will have a slightly different meaning in Swedish, but here's an attempt:

Dungeon - fängelsehåla (prison), underjordisk grotta (underground cave)
Dragon - drake
Fighter - kämpe, krigare (warrior)
Wizard - trollkarl, magiker (magic-user)
Rogue - tjuv (thief)
Cleric - präst (priest)
Evil - ond
Good - god
Combat - strid
Sword - svärd

Cheers,
Meadred

Dungeon: Donjon
Dragon: Dragon
Fighter: Guerrier
Wizard: Magicien
Rogue: Roublard (official? translation, IMG we tend to keep using Voleur i.e thief)
Cleric: Prêtre (i.e priest)
Evil: Mauvais
Good: Bon
Combat: Combat
Sword: Epée

Chacal

Ok, in swedish:

Dungeon - tricky one, no direct translation available, but "Fängelsehåla" (prison hole) is close. "Grotta" (cave) is what it is usually used by RPGers, if they don't use the shortened anglicism "Dunga" (only known in among gamers).

Dragon - drake

Fighter - Krigare

Wizard - Trollkarl

Rogue - Skurk or perhaps Lymmel, or Tjuv (thief).

Cleric - Präst (not exactly Cleric, but priest)

Evil - Ont

Good - Gott

Combat - Strid

Sword - Svärd

[Edit] Evidently Maedred was faster while I was typing!
