WOTC's Creator Relations Associated Dixon Dubow's position has been eliminated and he has been laid off. He seemed very well-liked among the influencer community so this may go down even worse than another round of lay-offs normally would.

Hasbro corporate earnings report comes out tomorrow morning. I'm keeping an eye to see if any more layoffs are announced.

As a side note, Dixon really put in the work to keep the D&D community from imploding after the OGL stuff. Managing influencers is an important part of marketing/ads these days and Dixon was great at what he does. This is a shame and absolutely shortsighted, especially since a brand like D&D needs a competent influencer manager.

How many times do they need to re-organize? How can you get any work done when the organization is constantly in flux?
Entertainment industries are frankly screwed up right now and in constantly in flux fighting for the eyes and attention of the same people

Hence while I'm in one of those essential industries.

There have been layoffs right after the release of a new rule set every time since Hasbro took over. Further, this is something we've seen repeated in many industries right now - they're squeezing tighter and tighter to reduce staff as much as possible with the idea that as AI gets more and more ready to replace more and more people the situation will be easier if there is less staff already on board.

Unfortunately, as we lay off more and more the ability for people to pay for products from these companies will diminish, the companies will feel a need to tighten their strings more, more people will be laid off, sales will continue to plummet, more people will be laid off, etc...

The sad part is that this loop will take place regardless of whether AI is actually ready to replace people or not. Once the massive cuts start...
