D&D Miniatures news

Hmmm, I'm really disappointed in that list of huge minis (and yes, I realize it's only speculation at this point). The only ones that interest me at all are the treant and red dragon (and I'm not gunna shell out a fortune on the secondary market for it). I've been a big fan of the first 3 sets (I now have close to 300 minis) but that set doesn't do it for me at all. Oh well, saves me some money...
You know, your post just made me think about something. We really have no idea at ALL what the non-Huge minis are. I'm suddenly very curious about them now...so much focus is on the Huge ones that we really are being left in the dark with the normal ones...

It will. ;) This isn't a bad thing.

I'm annoyed that the Fire Giant is in this set as a rare - actually, more disappointed. Rares are going to be so difficult to get, and any rare you need multiples of are bad. :(

Still, I'm sure that Wizards will learn from the mistakes they've made in this set. :)

Cheers!

Heh. :) We know a few (check my list). I would expect some unique figures, and also a Beholder.

Cheers!

Yeah...but considering how the other sets have panned out, we really aren't gett that much info on the normal ones. A Beholder would really be great...I want some form of a Copper Dragon too. Can't believe they haven't made one yet...best Dragon there is. :)

You are quite right, of course.

It might be that the Beholder will be in Aberrations, of course. (I almost hope it is - it'll be easier to find).

If most of the rare figures in GoL are unique, that'll make the set easier to collect, at least.

Cheers!

Incidentally, it might be that the "Cloud" Giant is actually a "Storm" Giant.

Boy, those huge miniatures are big. I'm not so annoyed at the price, now.

Cheers!

I am mostly annoyed that the reason WotC claimed to separate the huge miniatures into two categories was that otherwise, the huge miniatures would be more common than rares... The two rarity levels make the situation
far worse.

If there was only one type of huge, then you'd have an average of 2 of each type of huge in 24 boosters. No big deal.

Well... now in 3 out of 4 packs you're going to get one of 6 huges.
If you got 24 boosters and got a different rare in each one, you'd have
an average of 3 of each "uncommon" huge miniature. What the heck is
anybody going to do with 3 of the same type of huge miniatures?
What about 6 groups of 3 of the same type of miniatures?

In reality, you won't have 3 of each type though. Some of them you'll have 5 of. Some you'll have 1 or 2 of.

These things are going to be bigger than my fist! What the heck am I supposed to do when I get 5 behirs? The uncommon huges are going to be more common than commons, and the rares are going to be more rare than rares.

Mm yep those are good. (Cold Pizza rerun?)

I didn't understand the "Cold Pizza" reference, but I'm pretty sure it must have been. My informant (whose name is sitting on my home computer, not here) shot some digital photos of the pictures they were showing.

They look great. Grrr... they're going to be terribly expensive to buy, but THEY MUST BE MINE!!!!

I just hope they stay around for the 8+ months it's going to take me to accumulate them all. :)

Cheers!

Send them to me. :) I want to set up a "PCs in Dungeonland" scene. ;)

The uncommon huges are going to be more common than commons, and the rares are going to be more rare than rares.

Well, to look at the actual numbers:
Each "Rare" Huge: 1 per 24 packs
Each Normal Rare: 1 per 23 packs
Each "Uncommon" Huge: 1 per 8 packs
Each Normal Uncommon: 1 per 7 packs
Each Normal Common: 1 per 4 packs

That should put things in perspective. "Uncommon" Huge figures will have approximately the same commonality as normal Uncommons (a little rarer, actually); and "Rare" Huge figures will be about the same commonality as normal Rares - as far as this set goes.

Cheers!
