D&D Minis: Chase Rares!!

I'm just buying the common sets from eBay now. $3 for the full common set for any release. I'll settle for that.

One very nice thing about the distribution is that you can do that. :) Use whatever suits you - and you can get the rares either singly or ignore them and go for metal.

Cheers!

Actually I think this is a great idea. There's no reason they couldn't include several stat cards per mini (especially for the character minis). I'd love to see, for example, Tordek with three stat cards at, say, 5th, 10th and 15th level.

I guess it could get confusing though. You wouldn't know what the figure can do just by looking at it. You'd have to look at the opponent's card, too.

Is that in an eBay store or an auction? If it's a store, would you mind posting a link?

Thanks.

I had thought that the D&D minis would remain free of the disgusting chase rare class of figs, but I guess it was too good to be true. This stinks beyond belief!

I assume "chase rare" = "Holy Grail rarity fig?"

If so, is possible for any fig to be rarer than the beholder already is?

-The Gneech <-- now owns way too many spellstitched hobgoblin zombies and an Aspect of Nerull, but still no beholder

I ended up with a Beholder in my first pack. I just bought the last case my FLGS had in after release. The guy that bought the other cases (yes, caseS, he bought something like 4 of them) didn't get a Beholder in any of them and wanted one really bad. The owner cracked up when I got one, since he was trying to convince the guy to buy that last case!

I never got an Aspect of Nerull though. Need a huge Gold Dragon, Gneech?

Let me say it simply:

They are not chase rares!

Instead they are rares that have two stat cards: one card shows the Skirmish stats for 200 point play (on one site) and Epic play (on the other side), the other card shows the RPG stats likewise.

AFAIK, Epic is the renamed 500 pt play, though it may allow more points beyond that.

They're Elite because of this property, not because of their rarity.

Cheers!

In this I bow to your wisdom Merric. I do not want to see another level of rarity added to the minis. The rares are already a large expense.

I got a couple of them. The did not seem too rare. Although the Stone Giant and Copper Dragon from Angelfire seem unattainable at the moment.

Guess what two of my seven rares are? ;)

There seems to be an oddity in the seeding of Angelfire - adjacent cases will have an excellent distribution of rares except for one or two that appear in none!

It's been very frustrating for those who buy cases.

Cheers!

Sure, if you've got an extra one lying around, although I'd rather have the beholder. ;) I've actually got a box o' figs that I was going to list on the trading board once I got them all cataloged, if there's other stuff you're looking for.
