D&D/Minis Designer Needed

Andy_Collins

First Post
Wizards of the Coast has an opening on our RPG/Minis Design team.

We're looking for someone who has both RPG & Minis expertise, with a slight preference for Minis skills. Experience in the DDM tournament environment is a big plus.

To be blunt, we need someone to take on significant design chores for the D&D Miniatures game now that Rob Heinsoo has moved into the Lead role for the Design team...but that person will also be responsible for plenty of RPG rules design work as well.

If you think you might be that someone, head to the Hasbro site and follow the Careers link to Wizards of the Coast jobs.

Or you can just click here.

Hey Andy,

I've chased every Wotc job I thought I could possibly do, so here I am again. Here's my glowing resume; I've never played D&D minis before. I've got a rubbermaid full of them and they get used once a week but that little card gets flipped over to the RPG side. In 5 years of freelance work, I've expanded my repertoire many times but it looks like you want someone who can take over immediately. I'm still going to knock on the door though.

I'm also wondering, does Wizard's consider applicants, from outside the States, who don't have work permission in the States? I live in Vancouver, 3 hours north of Seatle WA, and I'm looking for a hint - are my chances non-existent or is it worth trying for?

We need this person to work here in the office with us...no full-time telecommuting, sorry (though occasional work-at-home days are fine, of course).

If you're asking whether Wizards can help get you work permission, that's another issue entirely (and one I'd have to investigate). Send me an email at andy.collins@wizards.com if that's what you're trying to find out.

I meant that moving to Seattle wouldn't be a hardship. It's close - same weather, lots of rain, lower gas prices and I could hear the other half of the softwood lumber dispute.

BTW, I've posted a little FAQ about this job on the D&D Miniatures General forum over at the Wizards boards. (That seemed to be the most active thread on the topic.)

Sounds good, I think I'll apply. Andy, any knowledge of how much experience, in terms of years, they are looking for. I have written two for two rpg books and have edited 5 but it has all been within the last two years.

Also what type of "minis experience. Does wargaming experience count or just skirmish settings?

Does reading 18th and 19th century British literature count as minis experience?

Maybe I'm being modest about my proposal, or maybe I'm too busy with a looking glass.

Dave
