Given the number of gamers getting together and spending that weekend rolling dice as much as possible, they really should make it available before the con. So people can have pick-up games and run the playtests in their hotel rooms and such.

Limiting it to the official playtest games run by WotC seems a little silly and restrictive. Especially since less than 1% of gamers will likely make it to GenCon.
Yeah, it's a nice preview for the people who can go, but the point of the playtest to to test via playing which should take priority over giving some folk a preview.

Plus it would help the playtest games at the con run more smoothly and with fewer rule problems if people could read over the rules beforehand. Otherwise people will be playing a mix of that playtest and the previous version, being unsure of the changes and not necessarily catching the subtleties.

In the place i live now my internet connection is so slow and i cannot hear/download the podcast.
Can someone please tell the main points concerning the playtest and the development of Dungeon Command?

Next packet will be out around GenCon (definitely available at GenCon, may be available online in advance of GenCon, at the same time as GenCon, or shortly after GenCon, they're working out the details). All of the classes have been revised to respond to feedback. They're getting positive feedback on most major core areas, except healing; but healing won't get a big change until after the next packet, due to time constraints.

Clerics will get some free healing, separate from spells.

Hit points will get cut down some, both in terms of PCs' and monsters' hp totals, and in terms of damage done. Should have about the same results, but with smaller numbers and better scaling.

New packet will include character generation rules and cover levels 1-5.

I think that covers the core D&D Next updates. I didn't listen to the Dungeon Command part of the podcast.
